Found ANOTHER new button.....

Featured Replies

Guys, help me out please!

As I got out this morning, I noticed a button on the drivers side door pillar at the bottom next to the drivers seat. Looks like a car with radio signal lines coming down through the roof, so I pressed it. It has changed colour and won't change back when I press it again. Apart from that, I cannot see any difference. What does it do?

I am cleaning her today by hand for the first time, so I am sure I will discover loads more buttons and gadgets.

I also got a fright this morning. Since I got her, my wife who hasn't driven for 2years has said 'maybe ill start driving again'.....

It's a button to disable the alarm sensors inside if you lock the car with the windows down, or leave someone or an animal in the car while you pop over to the shop etc...

Damn it. Thought it may be a bluetooth button. I have an aftermarket mic in the ceiling, but cannot find how to connect, or any BT control boxes under the seat. Cheers for that, my first day off today and real chance to go over the whole car and look for it.

Glad it's not just me up this time on a Sunday morning!

Jamie

Jamie, I would see if you can trace that mic back to a unit mate to see if you still have something installed.

You really need to trace the wire from the mic. The A pillar trims are simply clipped on and you can remove them easily by just pulling them off. Find out which one has the mic cable in, and follow back to the module. From there you can follow any other wires to wherever they go.

If you can, remove the headunit and see if any other wiring loom is present at the quadlock connector as well.

Will try, but removing trim in the past has always ended in breakages. Where would the unit normally be placed?

Jamie, you might not have to remove the a pillar as you might see the wire at the bottom. In that case the fuse box or the glove box side pops off. Just use a plastic lever or stick electrical tape round a screw driver to protect the plastic

Thankfully stereo removal is quite straight forward

Where in Somerset are you located, I am down the road in Dorset. If not to far, perhaps we can both look at this.

The mic could be wired up for voice control of the head unit as opposed to BT being fitted.

Awesome! Like knight rider? Can I just get in and say 'skoda, take me to Barry'

Seriously, what is voice control and how do I do it? Sounds like another fun toy....

Your car is an '06 model, its more likely the mic was left in place from an aftermarket carkit installation.

Sorry Micheal (Knight)

Don't you just love it when people can't be @rsed to read their manual?? And failing that, the manuals are all online and on here.

Fair comment, point taken.

I have voice control, can't say it's been useful. :) I don't have satnav though, just the Swing with bluetooth integration.

I've often wondered about these buttons - are they single use? I.e if I press it, light wont go out, internal alarm won't be set - BUT next time I lock the car will it be back to normal?

There wont be voice control on a 2006 car with a stream headunit, assuming the car has a stream that is.

According to my handbook p.37

The interior monitor ,,,,,are switched on again automatically the next time the car is locked.

It is a stream mp3. I have pulled the end panels off the dash and cannot see a BT box. This is about as much investigation as I dare given my mechanical skills....

Traced down to passenger footwell. Carpetted panel on side of dash, behind stereo there is a loose black box with plugs into it. Can't quite get to it yet, as I cannot get panel off without damaging, but I guess it's the bluetooth. Will have a play nextweek

Sorry guys, any ideas how to remove this panel? There is an Allen headed screw that comes out, then it unclips, but right in the middle of the panel it is joined onto the car. There must be a way to unclip it without damage. I need to remove the panel to see the black box thing properly and what it is....

Can you take a pic of the panel you mean please

Pretty sure it's just Velcro that holds it at that point and it just needs to be prised off. I managed to get my hand up to it so I could adjust the fitting position after the garage failed to relocate it properly.

Sarge.

Like this: Red is panel, red dot is screw/allen bolt. All velcro loose, just in the centre it is clipped on really well. i am sure if you manipulate in the right way it will come off, but how?.....
