It's expensive to run the equipment, and it's not a speedy process (ie. it takes a technician a fair bit of time to actually get meaningful results from it).

Perhaps you're approaching them the wrong way - if you go in and say you've got a warning light on, can they hook it up to the diagnostics and tell you what the problem is and provide a quote for fixing it, then they probably won't charge you and usually clear the codes while they're at it...

Are you sure it's just a question of resetting the warning light?

Perhaps it's telling you there is a fault, and that might cost far more than the light reset.

My lapdog is playing up atm otherwise I'd be glad to help but if you PM Dan (WRCSixtyThree) and ask him really nicely maybe he can help you out. I think he works in Newcastle.

My dealer does the diags for me for nothing. To hookup and read the codes only takes a few mins but their equipment sometimes just comes up with a code that they need to pass on to skoda hq to find out what it means. VAG-COM seems to have most of these codes already in often with more meaningfull wording thus removing the need for a dealer visit.
