Extended warranty

Featured Replies

Bought a new Superb (L&K 170 DSG Estate) yesterday and as I was buying asked about the extended warranty (three to five years).

Dealer said I was too late as this can only be taken at the time of ordering as 'it's part of the factory fit'. Mystified me - I joked that they need to know as they must make them better in order to avoid claims in years three and four.

But it has got me wondering...anyone else come across this, and can anyone explain why the warranty cannot be taken out (even before I'd driven the car brand new, sitting on the garage forecourt as I asked the question...) at collection, or even later. Do they actually change the build because of the extended warranty?

Plan B...simply read conflicting views of the DSG reliability (*the only part which worries me...love my new car...Superb in name and deed) and wanted to extend the warranty from the start.

We were given the option to take out the warranty in advance or decide on the day we picked up the car.

I ordered mine just before new year 2012 year before last but only took out the warrenty the day I picked the car up on the 17th April 2012.

It took a call from the UK dealer Principle who happened to be the Principle dealer at my local dealership, so it can be done it I think that they would rather have you decide to part with money earlier.

My dealer was very good at ensuring it did happen.
