Skoda Extended Warranty (Not)

Featured Replies

I've been asking my local Skoda dealer about this for a while. Had several phone calls telling me how wonderful it was but I never got any paperwork with terms and conditions. Was told it would be around £400 pa.

When it came recently it was an insurance type warranty. But only for a fault causing a total breakdown and stoppage. Nothing else . Useless.

Asked around and have gone for a policy through the CSMA Club Approved Car Care Plan. Yes, it has the usual exceptions but does cover the turbocharger and the clutch (worn / burnt out parts excluded) and all other major items. £193.

I am disappointed with Skoda as I thought I could renew on the current warranty terms- but no.

its useless i've said it before and got shot down in flames as usual.

Not worth the paper its written on and barely covers anything, neither does the 3 yr warranty either for that matter.

Mmmm, I'll disagree on that, I have the Extended warranty /RAC full cover and found it very good.

Had a few things done under the Warranty and no quibble or problems. I think sometimes it's the dealers that at fault not Skoda UK or the warranty department.

Likewise I think we both have the same one Mr G-finger I ordered my extra 2 years extended at time I ordered the car inc the RAC etc. The T&C's are pretty comprehensive and it seems pretty fair for the £450 odd I paid for the extra 2 years perhaps not all SUK dealers are supplying the same one its not SUK themselves under writing it but its Skoda approved and unlimited mileage for years 4 and 5. All works etc are threw Skoda dealers. When I talked to SUK customer service they were even aware of this extension on their systems. Fingers crossed I do not need to ever use it but I am fairly confident that it will work.

When I bought my first vRS it still had 2 years manufacturers warranty on it. Once that had run out I was offered various options on extending it.

I took anotehr year which came complete with RAC "full" membership. Reading the T&C's on the warranty I couldn't see any difference between it and the original one that came with the car.

Will certainly be looking for that again once my 3yr warranty runs on on this car.

I think that some dealers may be pumping on other 3rd party extended warranty policies which are for want of a better word "crap". The extended warranty options I see scouting about online seem to be different if its taken out when you order car new in advance to adding it on when existing runs out or adding it to a used approved Skoda etc. But on SUK web site today all I see for extended more or less mirrors mine but its limited to 5years/100000 miles or whichever comes first. Mine states year 4 unlimited year 5 unlimited. Maybe like all things they have changed it recently or the underwriter? Even covers you EU wide** ** = if you use it outside of UK its the only time you pay for it up front but then you claim it back from Skoda in the UK

I had over £4000 of work covered by my Skoda extended warranty, The only thing it didn't cover was wiring faults

There's two different 'Skoda' warranties available as of last year-

When you order the car- There is the option to extend to either a 4 (80,000mile) or 5 (100,000mile) year warranty; this warranty is the same as the 3 year warranty and includes all the features as such RAC cover etc.

Dealer/Skoda extended warranties- 3rd party warranties backed by insurance policies, which normally pay the dealer big commission and have large amount of exclusions.

I took out the "Approved Extended Warranty + Full RAC " with Skoda UK, via the Telephone. (07 plate PD TDi Vrs)

No problems at all, as I stated earlier I think it's the dealers. They can't be @rsed to be honest.

I've also been looking into extended warranty from warranty direct and warranty wise but they both have very mixed review but offer a monthly payment plan something my skoda dealer told me they can't do with their warraty. Wish there was a simple answer as to which used car warranty offers best cover and value

I think if you phone Skoda UK warranty dept you can pay monthly

Pity Skoda Ireland don't follow suit :(

I asked the dealer about extending the warranty when the original 2 year warranty we get here was up, but this wasn't an option apart from 3rd party ones which vary depending on mileage

My dads just extended the warranty on his Fabia, he did it not at the dealers who's warranty cover was from what I can work out simply a 3rd party one, but he phoned Skoda direct, and the result is that he has extended the warranty for 2 additional years with exactly the same cover as the factory warranty.

Its not exactly the same when you compare the T&C but its pretty standard of what you would expect from a warranty. http://www.skoda.co.uk/gbr/owners/warranty/extended-warranty/Pages/ExtendedWarranty.aspx

The T&C's are pretty comprehensive and it seems pretty fair for the £450 odd I paid for the extra 2 years.

I just renewed my RAC memebership for £65 (roadside + recovery to a destination of my choice). Figure that into the £450 and the warranty is only £160/year, not bad at all really.

Thanks for the info. I will get the number 2moro and give them a call. I was quoted 350 for a year from my dealer. Is that about right?

extended my VRS warranty twice direct thorugh Skoda, £330 per year and I claimed over £3000 worth before i sold it. So for me it was definately worth the paper it was written on and to be honest I'd advise anyone with an Octy VRS to do the same as things do go wrong with them once the years and miles start racking up.

Totally agree. My AC is knackeres but skoda don't know about but they asked to inspect the car before giving me warranty?? Is that normal?

If it's out of warranty now then I suppose so but when I extended mine they just took the money!

I definitely wanted an extended waranty for my Octavia. But all my local dealer came back with was the total breakdown coverage .

well the dealer quoted me 349 for 12monts with all the rac stuff etc etc, still waiting on the T&Cs to come in post, which i was promised. warranty direct have also quoted me 349 for their luxury cover, but my gut tells me not to use warranty direct and i dont know why its just a feeling i have. anybody use them? any bother or hassle? personally i rather use skoda as they record this on their system and makes the whole claiming process much easier i feel. i had a honda before and had major fights with their warranty has it basically said this warranty cover all components with sudden mechanical failure, i hit a pol hole and burt my shocks and broke a spring was told it was wear and tear and argues it was sudden mechanical failur which it was, 6 weeks of fighting i won and both spring and shock were replaced by the pair. will skoda be as awkward as honda???

Why are you paying £349 when Skoda cover is £255 a year.? Then go with Skoda assistance which is cheaper than RAC.

I'm not paying anything a the moment it's just what I was quoted. Is warranty the same price regardless of car? You got a link with info

On skoda assistance or anything i can use as evidence lol

Skoda assistance isnt that just road side help? I want warranty as well and if 255 is cost of roadside assistnace then 349 for warranty with roadside assistance included is quite a reasonable price?
