  • Really useful information, thanks guys! I ended up going with the Whiteline BWR19Z. Easy to install, good value for money and what a difference to the handling, just point the car to where you want it

Whiteline certainly makes a difference (I have it on the middle setting). To my knowledge the Jabba bar does not fit the mk2 vRS unless you have a modified exhaust

  • Moist Von Lipwig is correct regarding the Jabbasport bar. It fits with a Miltek Cat back, but not the stock cat back exhaust. I agree that the stiffer the spring/damper setup, the less effective the

same set up as im after now i think!

Loads of guy went for the rear bar on its own. it wont be an oversteering mess as some think, but as you say you ned to have a brain about your driving technique.

Also Andrew1991, Confide, Gregs79, Dave2y2k and MillsyVRS bought the rear bars

Also satisfied with the rarb, but I would definantly recommend a damper+springs-kit before the rarb!

My car is actually softer over gravel-roads now (hated the stock-setup which was too hard and too soft at the same time).

It's alot stiffer tho when you start pushing it (before rarb) and since we have something called SNOW up here in the north...

Let's just say it's tailhappy ALL the time, harr harr!

right will defo get some dampers then!! and then i can buy myself a rarb!! woop, i love getting my back end out (the car that is lol)

I remember asking about a Damper and Springs kit.. I think you recommended me the Weitec Ultra GT 30mm kit didn't you? They are still awaiting some "put-aside" money for me to order

That is what I've recommended, yes. Had Bilstein's kit on another car and was very impressed with that aswell. Think you can't go wrong with either there and it will shave alot off money off the cost.

The ride-height get's in the right way then, not too low but not too high either ;).

P.S

Have you tried the easy little experiment with yours of disconnecting the front bar drop links to see if you get too much oversteer?

I have desperately been wanting to do that to mine, but, because it is not a vrs, the suspension is quite soft and figured it would roll wildly.

Another way to make the car more tailhappy, to a lesser extent obviously, is to increase the tyre pressures at the back. Makes a fairly noticeable difference.

Very interesting thread by the way!

so back to RARB's.. lol whiteline is well rated for fab 1's by the looks of it?

A fair amount of people on the Fab 1 vRS swapped their whiteline bars for the Jabba bars because it didnt make enough of a difference.

This is the reason why i waited for a different option to come up, in my case, H&R. Had the Jabba bar fitted with the stock exhaust, i would have fitted that long ago. I didnt want to buy the Whitwline and find it didnt make the amount of improvement i wanted.

Why an earth would you do that!!! That would make the handling much worse potentially dangerous.

The Fabia has an ARB on the front of the car as standard, if you were to disconnect it it wouldnt be an accurate demonstration of how the rear bar works on its own as the rear bar will always work with a front ARB whether uprated or standard.

I only mentioned it as a controlled experiment...isn't that the sort of thing you could try on a track day?

Obviously I wouldn't advise anyone to do it who wasn't well aware of car handling characteristics and car control methods.I've recently disconnected the roll bars at both ends of my 350Z to try and trace a suspension knock and,at moderate speeds, the car wasn't unsafe.

I also had a friend who many years ago raced a car with the front bar disconnected because it was an understeering pig otherwise.

I suspect with the front roll bar disconnected a Fabia would still understeer...which might prove that you don't gain a lot by uprating the front bar,i.e just adding a rear bar is a reasonable move.

Unlike you I have no wish to spend large amounts on mods,I want the best and cheapest solution to make the car handle to my satisfaction for fast road use only.I hope this will be by adding a rear bar only.

fair point there, im close to buying a whiteline RARB and wanted to know if it was value for money being able to tell the difference with it on..

great topic here

I'm in Thailand and there's not many fabia here,

there is this ultra racing bar and it's only 18 mm, is there anyone using this bar?

I can see that the size is the smallest one among the bars you are talkning about but it may be the only one available here, please give your opinions about this bar. thank you..

p.s. I was going for VWR springs but the price is 4times more expensive than the price in UK wow so I have ordered Eibach springs instead, waiting time is 1 month and the price is 50% more expensive than UK but pricewise it's far better than the VWR.

PS I'm currently running stock suspension but thinking of installing 20mm lowered eibach springs. Any thoughts?

You will need to change the shocks to something like Bilstein B8s as well, as the ride is very hard* with the Eibach lowering springs on standard shocks.

*Actually, the ride is still hard even with the Bilsteins I have, albeit more bearable.

Im running 40mm H&R lowering springs, Biltein B4 Sport and Whiteline RARB. Ride is comfy on the motorway and around town. the RARB and Lowering springs together are the best mods I have done.

Thanks for the tip. I'd read a number of posts/opinions that said a drop of 20mm won't require new shocks but a couple said what you just did, the ride is too hard. I'll do some reading on the B8s. Cheers

That's a big drop. It must look great. I'm half way there! I haven't been able to find anything online in Oz for the vRS hatch with more than 20mm drop. Am wondering whether the vRS already has a slightly lowered set up compared to a non-vrs and that's why or whether it's something else...

The VRS is slightly lower I believe 10mm maybe from the stock fabia. I run H&R 40mm drop which is the most possible springs used on the Fabia. Got mine from DPM Performance and the same with the rear anti roll bar. DPM Performance are really great.

Great look! I'll check out DPM, thanks.

Checked out DPM who have a number of options, but they unfortunately only deliver to the UK 😞20mm Eibachs may have to do.
