Battery Charger Lidl's 17th Jan

Featured Replies

I got one the last time they were out - very good units.

Thanks for the heads up - i'll be grabbing one of these this time round. :)

Lidl are also doing £19.99 snowchains (pair) on the same day sizes 70, 80, 90 & 100. Size 90 fits the 205/55/16 winters that are common on the Octavia (and I have fitted on my Yeti too).

Very nice - will pick one up

? Do you think snow chains would damage black alloys as fitted on blackline.

http://www.lidl.co.u...index_38051.htm are the chains (you might need to put in a postcode or click on the button to bypass the postcode). They look to be plastic coated where they touch the wheels and just steel against the tyre. I want to get some to leave in the car (also on alloys for winter tyres) for emergency use - I sincerely hope that 4x4 & winter tyres should be sufficient for pretty much anything we're likely to get!

I don't know why they bothered stocking the Exmouth Lidl with snow chains.... Snow is rare enough down here as it is, let alone snow worthy of needing snow chains to safely negotiate!

Chains don't fit the VRS unless you get the uber expensive sport tyre versions.

Exact replica of a Ctek i have two and use it once a month as we do short journeys never had a battery issue.

Worth the £14 all day long.

Good find! Thanks for sharing, we'll be getting one of these

not an exact replica but good for the cash thats for sure

It's as near as makes no difference. Internally it is the exact same as the Porsche battery maintainer and the Ctek MXS 3.6. As Skoda owners, we are adept at paying less for exactly the same :giggle:

I got one last time they were in, and it's very good.

a mate of mine bought one not long ago, certainly not bad as i said. For the average user its very handy, especialy being able to leave it.

Not great if you have more than 1 battery as it wont charge them properly though

Get snow socks if you really think you need chains. They are actually very good there have been threads about them on here and to get a size to fit the 18" Neptune its not overly expensive.

Do you mean more than one battery like in a camper which has an auxilliary for utilities? I've used my charger on at least three different batteries (in separate cars) and each one took charge how it should.

yea, if you are charging more than one battery at the same time.

if it is, as above, the same as the mx 3.6 thats the baby ctek and has a very small charging capacity. About 100ah max iirc.

I used to have the XS3600 and now have an XS7000. The new one charged my 2 batteries much better and gave them more charge.

If the batteries are wired in parallel, then as long as the total capacity of the batteries is 120ah or less, the lidl charger will charge them.....eventually...in about 32 hours if they are flat. A bigger output battery charger (7 amp) won't give them any more charge......it will just fully charge them quicker.....but it would still take 17 hours.

Most consumer car battery chargers, with an output of about 4 amps is more than adequate for any car battery.

I admit its the kind of charger I have put on in the morning before work, and left going all day whilst at work. :D

thats the idea behind matainence mode, its a great feature

not quite true. my ctek 3600 would never charge my batteries fully (140ah total) but the 7000 does

For the Irish lads. From Mon 14th they (Lidl) are doing an Alloy Wheel storage stand for 9.99euros

How do you know it never charges them full??

because my 3600 said it was fully charged. took it off, put the 7000 on and it carried on charging for hours and i had less voltage drop so it was putting out more amps

Maybe it was ALDI, but I got one at the end of summer that had an LCD display showing voltage and also giving a bar graph of how much charge had been taken up. It was similar money, and both ALDI and Lidl tend to run motoring promotions at similar times (within a couple of weeks anyway).

Not near it just now, so can't confirm if its Auto-XS (which I think it is) or Ultimate Speed.

Auto-XS stuff is Aldi I'm pretty sure.
