Haldex Controller Question - Unbelievable Story

Featured Replies

Called Skoda UK this morning and logged all the details and now waiting for a call back once it's been assigned to a case manager for review.

Thing is, the service guy at the dealership said it was an oil leak from the unit, but as it's a sealed unit, then they have to replace the whole thing. My response back was that if it was supposed to be a sealed unit, and it was leaking, then there must be a manufacturing or design fault. Also can't see that it's a sealed unit if it is supposed to have the oil changed?

Either way, a failure / replacement of this unit after 3 years is not to be expected at all. Interestingly, the customer service person I spoke to this morning informed me that the dealership had NOT spoken to anyone, but used their online system (computer) to generate an automated 50% price reduction offer! Anyone ever heard of anything like this before?

This is why i always get the MOT done in the month prior to the warranty expiring.

On previous new cars I have had, I always did this as I received a reminder from the dealers / UK manufacturers that the 1st MOT was coming up. Didn't get a reminder in this case and missed the due date. Maybe because the car was bought second hand in a private sale, although I did fill out the Skoda ownership / warranty transfer card and post it straight away. Seems they didn't have this as my car / name could not be found on the Skoda UK system when I called this morning. However, the dealers I use for service had all the details of the car on their system, but apparently DO NOT send out reminders for the first MOT, even though they said they do for subsequent ones!

For the reasons you've mentioned above I'd be unhappy with anything less than a 100% contribution.

Stand your ground, stick to your guns, be firm but fair.

My Scout is 5 years old and no leaks here.

The online contribution works on a sliding scale based on age and mileage.

Speak to a human at Skoda UK and I'm sure they'll do the right thing.
