Tyre Pressure for 1.4 tsi Vrs

Featured Replies

Thanks, it's free to use pump at Morrison's. I don't but my fuel there though as they only have regular.

Trial & error for me has me now setting them all year around at 33psi front and rear with 205 or 215/40 R 17's when it is just me in the car and not much being carried.  Up the rears if passengers or weight in the back.

(no rear weights fitted.)

What tyre pressure would you suggest when having the rear weights plus the rear seats removed, Awayoffski? Lowering or putting more in it?

I do have 250kpa as standard.

What ever feels best for being planted with traction for the tyres you have on the road conditions and how you are driving, but be sure not to under inflate.

Just as with any car really.

I always carry a portable compressor / booster pack in the back of my wagon - use it regularly for tyre pressure checks on a number of cars - and jump-starting the neighbours. Never have to rely on dodgy gas station pumps.

Does this look OK? Wheel is at a angle.

That looks a bit under-inflated if you ask me, but then again it's probably because I have different tyres it looks different.

I'd agree that it looks a little soft - especially with that 40 profile, I tend find that low profiles often "look OK" even when quite low in pressure. What pressure are you running these with?

You really need to take care with the vRS and 205/40 R 17,  especially when Dunlop Sport Maxx are fitted but also with others.

The out side tyre wall can look fine and the inside can have bulges or be going thread bare.

The rear tyres can go totally out of shape and not be suitable for moving  rear to front & front to rear.

Some pulling to the left issues are the directional tyres, and also where front tyres have gone to the rear and rear to the front.

Skoda approved fitting the Pirelli Zero Nero to the cars under warranty because the sidewall is so tough, & hides the mis-alignment that Dealerships never seemed to be able to correct.

The Dunlop tyres self destructing happens or being easily damaged by bad roads, potholes / ironwork more than with the Pirelli's even though the Sport Maxx fitted at the factory are XL tyres.

First time the machine read 25 psi, which looked under inflated.

I've been back and done 30psi.

:speechless:

Think I've got that wrong and I should be putting in higher psi right? 36psi is 250kpa

Much better compared to your first inflation.

I've borrowed a portable 12v air pump so in going to top up to 36psi

That's probably closer to the mark. Take a look at Amazon or FleaBay for a decent compressor / boost-starter power pack. And a good dial type pressure gauge.

I think my pressure is down a bit..........

Special rail-commute version?

Nice wheel that. They will suit it loads.

You running 312mm brakes too?

Haha, yeah it's the tram-line special!

The brakes are 334mm golf r32.  I got sick of having to run spacers to clear the caliper/spokes, so bit the bullet and got a set of team dynamics pro race 3's.

The clearance is a hell of a lot better now!

The car literally does a handstand when you slam anchor!
