a) The temperature drop > every other journey to work 40 miles M25.  For last two months

B) The FAN and burning just twice in last two weeks but never before in 4 years

Thank you but can I give my scenario

1) Journey is 1 hour average speed 55mph on busy motorway M25 commute

2) although I did not notice today the other day water gauge down to nearly the lowest 50oc and MFD showed oil temp at 65oc

perhaps the overrun and the low temperature are not connected but also in 4 years of ownership had not notice the overrun before and driving style or circumstances not changed at all.

Lastly have noticed increase in fuel consumption

appreciate any other thoughts or back to Beadles

Your water and oil temps are far too low. Someone else had a similar problem with low recorded temps. Have a search through the Superb II forum for "temperature".

Somewhere near DSG gearbox should be 2nd thermostat. If this is faulty then there is a chance that it is the reason of low temps.
