So who hasn't remapped their car

Featured Replies

I had a BLT remap made a huge difference to power and delivery of that power.

Worthwhile doing, no turbo change needed for stage 1

  • I know mines standard because I ask the first owner who was a middle aged family man if it had been remapped and his reply was its not got sat nav built in it's just a single cd player

  • Like I say, if it is 150bhp it works out over £17 for 1 bhp... Only reason I'd get my blt remapped is If the turbo goes and I get it replaced with a pd150 or hybrid. Once the turbos on I'm sure I'll b

  • My PD100 is mapped, best thing I ever did

I'm the person Matt mentioned! Yes a map will transform the car massively! And beyond if you upgrade more parts :)

Interesting Josh thanks for that. I'm assuming that was no turbo change.

I am looking for PD150 I think, so I'm also specifically wondering about the gains of the stock BLT130 over changing the turbo and

I think you have answered it, thats its definitely worthwhile. As its likely to restrict insurance options and add at least £100/yr then I would hope it had some very obvious advantages. I guess the only way to be sure is to meet someone with BLT with PD150 and custom mapped, wonder if anyone is in my way or just wait for the next meets lol

+ Chris, thanks ! What turbo do you guys have and where did you have it mapped?

Me and Chris both run Unit 18 maps. I`v sent at least 3 people there (PD130 owners) after my remap and everyone was chuffed with it. With regards to insurance, I guess it depends on your insurer, but I dont think there would be much of a increase between a 170bhp map and a 150 turbo with a 190bhp map with Flux or similar. I`d happily take you for a spin, only in MK, but I`m running a Hybrid turbo so I dont think it`d help you much. That said, I ran it on a very low boost map when I first got it at around 195bhp, was lovely to drive, nice and smooth, very drivable.

hi just joined, the vrs ive just bought has an adjustable map from star performance in scotland, rang him the other day as the guy i bought it off claimed it was 190bhp, the guy from star performance jim said its 180bhp, as far as i can tell all its got is a green cotton panel filter and stainless exhaust with sports cat, was mapped from new at a cost of 575 pounds in 2004.

Mine is a pd150 but with a bigger compressor wheel then the previous MD376 it did have from turbo dynamics, not to sure what the difference is but yeah lol

Not sure on power on mine but it should be over 210bhp approx and is a different car again from just a map but then i do have alot more upgraded then just a map... e.g clutch, flywheel, exhaust, intercooler and oil cooler plus all the breaking and handling mods :)

Neither of mine are (one being the Wife's) and i have no intention of mapping them mainly due to my starship mileage count and i don't really want spend good money on turning a not particularly fast car into a slightly quicker not particularly fast car :)

I've been wondering whether my 07 BLT has been remapped by a previous owner as it seems so much quicker than the ASZ Golf GT 130 I used to own. It's interesting that someone mentioned a stock car should do 40 - 80 mph in 17 seconds and a remapped car in about 9, which I'm assuimg that would be in 4th gear. Out of interest can anyone confirm roughly what their standard BLT engined Fabia does it in for comparison?

Thanks.

I cant be bothered risking the clutch or turbo...

ive got the atd engine and brought a seperate remapped ecu off an atd golf! fell in love with the power but removed it due to the fact my fuel consumption didnt like it! and my clutch slips in 3rd and 4th from 1 and half thousand revs! its suppose to take it from 100 to 140bhp defiantly felt it! mines got just shy of 132k on the clock and was fine! depends how excited you get! strongly recommend a remap

I'm not mapped yet but will crack 300-310bhp and about 290lb ft when I do.

Really looking forward to it.

8 years standard and then had it remapped. :)

Iv had mine remapped with shark and it transforms the the car, very smooth and can still surprise me with how hard it can pull from low revs in a high gear and thats taking care not to floor it under 2k revs as much as possible. Iv had the 312mm brake conversion as well and can only highly recommend it whether your car has been remapped or not. Stronger with better feel,an excellent conversion (and not that expensive) for any vrs.

Dont think mine is remapped but i came from a 1.6 focus so this still feels like a little rocket in comparison, and its quicker than my dads 160hp insignia...although thats not much to brag about :p

Standard VRS SE, no modifications. For those that have remapped theirs, has it increased your insurance cost ( I'm assuming such modifications need declaring).

Course it will ! Sorry but of course they will fleece you with every excuse they can

The rough guide is 10% for every 10% increase in power I'm told, or something like that and some mainstream insurers may or may not permit up to 25%, from what I've seen its specific modified insurers like Flux that grant more moderate mapping but then the price seems to go up quite a bit - to probably approaching twice that of a very reasonable standard quote with AXA I've seen - around £250 odd.

Flux quoted me roughly £380 and that was just for for octy wheels and slightly lower supension that I've got and thinking of fitting soon.

Its so bloody subtle a change makes you wonder if you should even tell them it just makes the car look more standard - hardly lowrider coilovers look lol.

Thought I think my current insurer is pretty modest on these very subtle changes, probably less so kind on remaps though which is why I'm still very much on the fence on this as its still a very very good car without a map (BLT)

I can guarantee my 1.4 mpi hasn't been mapped :D

Thinking about it after 12 years they should probably give me a reduction on my premiums for the horses that have been lost ;)

I'm thinking of getting my 56 plate vrs remapped.

I'm in north herts Essex border (Hertford), any suggestions where I should go to get it remapped?

Also I'm looking to get slightly bigger alloys/tyres as I find mine abit wooly when pushed on bends/roundabouts!!!!

Anyone suggest a wheel/tyre size that won't alter my speedo reading?

Cheers Andy
