 Ade!

U forgot the 10 cups of strong coffee as well!

 In between the cups of tea!

I love it when the plans comes together!

Ade, start a thread on your car detailing!

I want to see pics like this, ok?

And BLACK clay bars!

Hence, I was looking for deep dark solid colours for my Skoda - but I suppose Audrey looks pretty enough in metallic Maroon

PS: Yeah, the claying video was good wasn't it?

PPS: Gives u a good background to why we should clay

PPPS: Just bear in mind like car waxes we all have our preferences - so clay the way that works best for u (and that u are happy with also)

  • It's taken me a week to read this thread after my own Superb purchase! I can only say how gutted I am you sold Audrey! It was like a soap opera I didn't want to end. What am I going to do tomorrow?!

  • That's one hell of an aerial on the back there!...

  • It's not an aerial; it's the pole that makes contact with the ceiling grid.

Found this thread by accident. Toyota? go and stand on the naughty step for 10 minutes you naughty naughty boy!

Ade!

I was wondering how u knew about my Toyota.

Then it dawn on me - u were referring to my nearly buying a Toyota Auris Hybrid!

Silly me - not used to memort lapses yet at my age

These nice fellas put me right with their subtle diplomatic hints:

GroundHog: Toyota? Are you mad?!

K.Young: For the love of God, don't do it!!!

But, I do have a Toyota though - here she is:

Factory fit I think Chan but there are aftermarket ones available.

Skoda do some of their own - have a look on page 12: http://www.skoda.co.uk/GBR/Documents/Brochures/Accessories/accessories_superb.pdf

Also try someone like Vanstyle: http://www.vanstyle.co.uk/shop/privacy-shades-skoda-superb-door-p-3957.html

Thks Coop!

Shame no prices from Skoda! :-(

I wonder if Audrey has side chrome strip?

And chrome sills?

I like the spoiler and boot liner! :-)

Why different sizes for boot liner/rear sunblind for hatch and combi?

Will these be ok for Audrey?

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2c6b509964

That would fit yes, but £72 for a scabby old wheel complete with a Sunny :o no grip tyre?

£200 will get you a good set of genuine alloys, £300 and they will be mint.

Should do they are std elegance trim (including a chrome trim on the bottom of the boot and front bumper)

Something like these should be fine:

Not a great amount of rubber left (winter tyres need 4mm+ to work effectively on snow) but they would see you through this year and possibly next year as well.

Thks Martin (ref. chrome bits)!

I know (ref. alloys)!

But cant find any for £300!!! :-(

Martin!

How in the world did u find thm?!!!

I filtered by wheels+tyres plus 7J wide - and no set of 4 for VAG :-(

Thy look ok!

I agree - shud last 2 winters max.

Pickup from london... Extra £60 in my LPG Scoob.

How much u reckon for Audrey driving 75-80mph for 500miles round trip?

I searched “Audi winter alloy” but having bought 3 sets of winter wheels and numerous others on eBay you tend to know what will fit just by a quick glance.

I would want confirmation of the ET before buying them as some Audi’s will go up to around ET54 (TT’s, A3’s etc) and whilst they should just about fit… they would sit right inside the arches and look silly, whilst you are asking double check they are 5x112, IIRC that pattern only came in that size though.

Generally A4 / A6 wheels fit without issue though.

Thks Martin.

I ll giv thm a miss this time.

I was in a rush to buy Audrey before the Scoobs mid-Feb MOT.

But no rush for winter wheels (hopefully worse of winter is over - touch wood!)

But if a nice set comes along and plenty of tread (or just alloys) -

thn i will buy there and thn!

Thks again Martin!

PS: let me know if u spot a bargain!

PPS: unless u want thm too!

I will keep my eyes open for you, TBH now is not the best time to buy them anyway as many sellers think they are doing you a favour by selling ‘worn out’ (4mm) tyres for £200 or a set of budget winters on steel wheels for £600!

To give you an idea I paid pretty good money for mine (about £620 IIRC) but they were brand new Audi ‘Abitos’ alloys (made by BBS) and brand new Bridgestone Blizzaks delivered, so not a bad price considering.

My 1st set of winters were:

£80 for 5 Audi A6 alloys (rough as ****)

£100 refurb (city powdercoaters in Birmingham)\

£300 ish 4 brand new Nokian WR G2’s

£35 for the tyres to be fitted / balanced

So for just over £500 I got freshly refurbished wheels with tyres of my choice (I cannot recommend the Nokian WR G2 and WR A3 tyres highly enough) I used them for 2 winters and still got £400 for them when I sold them with 6/7mm of tread left.

Just a pity the Bridgestone tyres are nowhere near as good as the Nokian’s

Hi Martin

Thks bud!

Amazing u got back 2/3 of original price?!!!

So is it better to buy NEW thn sell whn 6-7mm?

Thn to wear thm down thn buy new again?

I am off to Birmingham nx tuesday to pickup Audrey (fingers crossed on weather)!

Would be great to spot some decent alloys / winters enroute to pickup!!!

With seats folded down, can fit 4 wheels?????

Can i ask:

Wots the best way to store wheels?

Just lay flat?

Buy those pole things and lay one after another on top?

I have no garage space left.

So storage in room temperature in spare room ok?

Shall i bagged thn individually too?

Do i need to clean thm each time input in storage?

It helped buying the tyres at a very good price, they went up closer to winter (bought in August / September) and never came back down again the following year.

I will probably run these down to around 6mm and either sell them on the wheels - I currently really like the wheels though, so I may just sell the tyres?

I can get 4 225’s stood up in my boot area (estate) without dropping the seats, so you will have no issues if you drop the seats (just bear in mind the seats do not fold flat in the saloon - the seat base is not made to lift up)

I have one set on a tyre tree (mine) and another just stacked on top of each other (the mrs :giggle: ), both sets are covered up and in a dark shed, I always clean them thoroughly and dry them before they go away, they then get a coat of polish and a couple of coats of wax before they go back on the car… yes I am into my detailing!!

Storing them in bin liners under the spare bed would be ideal…. my mrs would kill me if I tried that though :giggle:

Not to mention, that tyres actually smell. I kept a set of wheels / tyres outside exposed to the elements stacked one on top of the other. They stayed there for 18 months before I needed 2 tyres for the Superb, so they were removed from 2 of these wheels. Tyres were fine, when fitted to the superb and they were still on the car when I sold it.

Cheers Martin / Mannyo

I am just working out what i need to do whn i get the winter wheels.

1. I can transport in Audrey (but no flat rear seats)

2. I can store thm in spare room (covered in bin bag)

3. Clean thm else stonk

4. Sell thn at 6mm without alloys

So extra cost would be?

1. Put tyres on alloys @£10/tyre?

2. To sell another £10/tyre to remove?

3. If tyres last 3winters to 6mm thn cost :

New tyres approx £50 x4

Fit on alloys £10x4

Tracking? £30

Take off to sell £10x4

Retrack summer tyres £30

3 years = £350 (minus selling 6mm winters)?

You don’t need the car tracked each time the tyres are swapped over, it’s not a bad thing to get it checked every couple of years or if you hit a large pot hole or bounce down curbs, but you will know if it has been knocked out as the steering wheel will be off centre.

Yes tyres do smell (they are rubber ATEOTD) but if they are bagged and the bag has a knot in the end then the smell would be minimal I would imagine.

After i bring Audrey home.

I want to remove the battery and put it on a charger/conditioner for 24hrs.

Does anyone know:

1. If this will cause problems to Audrey?

- er, can i ask how to remove battery?

2. Whn putting battery back:

- would alarm go off?

- stereo need PIN?

- lose any memory settings?

wayne

why do you want to do that,?its a wast of time the car is quite capable of keeping the battery fully charged if it doesn't you might need a new battery.

Just a bit suspicious tht Audrey been sat on the forecourt for i dont know how long.

Covered in 1-2 foot of snow.

And whn it was driven to us it was left running for 30mins..

...to charge battery?

Just tht i have a charger / conditioner.

So why not re-condition the battery and extent its life?

Just my 2pence or 2cent or .... :-)
