Reverse and first becoming difficult to engage

Featured Replies

As titled escpecially after just coming out of gear and try to engage reverse and when on a little hill of sorts even worse is this another Fabia common fault

Cables might need resetting or something has come loose on the 2 cable connections? (which is why its being tricky just on left side)

I'm sure there is a process to reset the cables - something to do with putting in neutral/gear?, locking the lever on top of the gearbox, and then tweaking the two cables.

I think you need a special jig to adjust them properly Jason.

the left and right movement at the stick relates to the up and down movement of the gear selector, which is the upper of the 2 cables at the gearbox end, i would advise you to leave them be unless you know what you are doing.

Not on this box.

Lift up the gear gaitor and use an appropriately sized pin to lock the lever in position (there are two holes that line up).

Then under the bonnet you push back the plastic thingys on the levers and lock them back. Then you push down on the lever and twist or push the locking pin in (depending which you have).

Release the plastic thingys and make sure they have locked back into place.

Release the lever and remove the pin.

Done!

You may have to remove the air intake to get proper access to everything under the bonnet.

Phil

Remove the battery before attempting to do this on a vRS!

I nearly ended up with no gears after I thought I could do it by just removing the air intake.

I take it this is the "private" pubetube video

Yes that's the one.

No idea why it's now private.
