How fast does yours heat up

Featured Replies

During the cold snap how long did it take to warm up your superb up to normal temp, the Octy takes ages

A good 15 to 20 mins I'd say.

about 10 minutes of driving and it was at 90

Within about 10 minutes its up to temp with some heat after about 3 to 4 mins

This is much quicker than the diesel Octavia VRS I had previously

My car only takes about 2 minutes until you can feel the heat is there and about the same for the seats , but i do start it in the garage as i have a crafty smoke before i leave for work,,,, don't tell the wife ,,,, ta :)

My 15 to 20 mins was referring to warming up the CAR.

If you meant the ENGINE, then of course its much less than that.

Don't the superbs have the aux heater that kicks in when there is a large heat demand?

AFAIK this option has never been available on UK cars

That's a shame. The fuel-fired heater was standard on the diesel passat b6.

Takes 8 to 10 miles before I can feel any heat coming out of the cabin vents and way longer before the engine temp reaches 90C, diesels don't waste so much heat energy like the petrols, hence the longer warm ups.

Friends in Germany, where it gets seriously cold fit Webasto heaters. They can be timer set or remote 'plip' controlled and burn petrol/diesel to warm the engine and the passenger compartment before you get in. Could well be this is the standard Skoda part not available in the UK...but it is an OEM option from some fitters.

Maybe us Brits will get Webasto heaters eventually, we got Aircon in our cars now.
