Advice about Yeti Greenline please

Featured Replies

Dear Yeti Owners,

Can anyone out there driving a Yeti Greenline, advise me regarding fuel economy please. I am shopping around for a new car, my partner already drives a Yeti 2.0 TD SE which I really like but the fuel economy isn't as good as I would need it to be. I travel a 60 mile round trip to work each day and would ideally like 60mpg, I average 20,000 miles per year. The technical specs in the brochure state 67mpg extra urban and 61.4mpg combined, how does this compare with actual mpg as experienced by Greenline owners?

Any advice much appreciated.

14k miles from new and averaging 55mpg.

Not much town driving in there either, which in my opinion would push it down to just over 50mpg.

Driven by my Mum by the way. :)

For a comparison my remapped 170CR 4x4 averages 47mpg over similar driving.

What does your 2.0 TD SE average?

For what it's worth I use the urban figure as an idea what it will really do, the figures are nearly always optimistic due to the way they are calculated for every car.

They are not representative of normal driving.

Thanks for the info. :) Consumption for our existing Yeti is 550miles to a tank of fuel during summer months but that drops down to about 450miles during the winter probably due to the engine taking forever to warm up. I can be 18 miles into my journey to work before any noticable heat comes out of the blowers. :D

I can tell you what the maxidot reads but obviously it isn't accurate. During the Summer I can regularly get a reading of 62mpg but in the winter this drops to a reading of 50-52mpg.

I test drove a Ford BMax at the weekend, it is supposed to have an extra urban consumption of 67-72mpg. The salesman has been driving it for 4500 miles and the best he could get was 49.5mpg, hopeless really.

The Yeti greenline is the only car that has grabbed me so far.

You are getting about the same as my 170 4x4 then, which also has a 2.0 Tdi engine.

Basically, if you get a Greenline you are only going to get between 10% and 20% better economy.

I can't see you getting 60mpg unless you drive everywhere at 60mph and avoid towns...

It's a great car, but the problem is the large frontal area which creates drag at higher speeds and brings the fuel economy down.

It's just shaped like a brick really.

You also won't get a real idea until you've done between 5k and 10k miles as during this time they get more economical.

From new the engines are a little tight.

Until about 6k miles our Greenline II didn't do more than about 50mpg.
