1.6 TDI Remap

Featured Replies

Just a quick update on the 'TDi Tuning' box....

A fair bit more shove across the whole range, (especially bottom and mid) and an average of 6mpg more!!

Well chuffed!!!

Is that 6mpg on the display or 6mpg over 3 tanks brimmed?

6mpg on the read out. I have found this to be spot on with every tank full so far, so have no reason to doubt it.

Tuning boxes directly screw with the ECU's calculation used to generate that dash readout.

So does it also screw with the fuel pump, as according to the poster his maxidot reading is backed up by his fill-ups

Brimma, I'm pretty sure Stevie hasn't put through 3 tanks between ordering the box on Feb 2nd and now. I read that as previously the maxidot was correct. But it'll need checked again with the box installed.

Commonrail tuning boxes fool the ECU into thinking the rail pressure is low. So they increase rail pressure and squirt more fuel than the ECU thinks has been squirted. This is why the readouts aren't accurate any more.

The 75 and 90 brake 1.6 CRs are basically de-tuned 105s, so the gain on a 105 won't be as big, more's the pity, as I have a 105 to start with

still worth doing... had a stage one remap on Octavia with 1.6 TDI  105 you'll end up with about 135-140 hp - instant throttle response & better drive -  approx  -10% fuel save despite better performance whats not to like?
