Anyone Smoked Their Clutch Running 160 -180 HP

Recommended Posts

If anyone ever managed to make soot come out of the clutch lemme know

Clutch burn smells fairly different from unburnt diesel fuel - and it's probably more expensive in the long run :)

I've had to replace the clutch on two cars so far - since I've adopted the 'make sure the clutch has enough time before building power' approach I've not burnt one through (yet?). That said the Furby is still standard so that will definitely help.

As for remaps - the CC1 is designed to keep torque smooth and at safe levels for the original clutch. Others give you the torque at higher levels and more peaked, say Jabba. If you are careful enough you can use that too no doubt, and it will give you a bigger 'kick'. I've got a feeling both would be awesome to drive :D

Nope...smoked my clutch at about 65k kms though...

I have heard a story of how one guy just bought a brand new 2.0 a year ago, drove it about 6 kms, had to go up a 6 storey car park, kept it in 3rd gear revving hard, and smoked his clutch instantly.

Imagine that...just 6k...
