Cruise Control

Featured Replies

does anyone know, when uses CC to slow down (by pressing the 'down' button on the stalk), do the brake lights come on?

I assume its 'no' as its mentioned above no brakes are involved and its done via. controlling engine output but just checking :)

No it doesn't, you are merely reducing the engine load or throttle position.

cheers mate! :) had this image of everyone behind me wondering what the hell i was doing when the brake lights went crazy cos i was pressing the button!! just wanted to double check that wasn't the case :)

I bought my cruise control from my skoda dealer for 150 bulgarien leva which is 75 euro, and 30 euro for instalation! Which means 105 euro total :D

Very reasonable!!!

Just thought I'd mention it since no one else has...

There are TWO different cruise stalks. The one with the sliding switch which also serves as the resume and only one button on the end of the stalk, and one with both set/res and v+/v- on the end of the stalk.

The second is much easier to use IMHO, as the first is really intended for use in conjuntion with the steering wheel mounted CC buttons which provide set/res and v+/v- at your fingertips, as in the Superb.

I bought the second type from a VW dealer and fitted it myself, it's dead easy.

As I've said before, should there be any Octy vRS owners in the North East who'd like cruise fitting, I'd be happy to help out/do it for them including the VAG-COM activation if they get the parts, as I've done a couple now.

It sits in the middle position whether you like it or not ;)

I do use the 'off' switch sometimes' date=' mainly when I know the car will cruise along without having to brake, for example if someone is pulling out in front of me and is getting out of the way again. When that happens I drop the cruise 'off' and hit 'on' again once they're moved - which will pull back up to speed.[/quote']

"It sits in the middle position whether you like it or not " - no - it can be switched off permanently by putting the slider fully to the right. But I fail to see why anyone would bother doing that...

I do that latter action all the time. Try driving along a motorway never using the accelerator, brake or clutch...

Mine will always go back to the middle position with a spring? Ah well, either way it works :D

You can briefly push slider to the "off" position. This switches off the cruise when it's in use, but can be switched on again when you press "set".

When the slider it pushed all the way to the "off" with a click, it's permanently off.
