5th Gear Anglesey Circuit Lap Times (including Vrs)

Featured Replies

Theres no way it would get close to that time as standard though.

The right lines make a big difference. I was much quicker after a demo session with obi-wan

PS there was a lady at the 928 track day admiring the Isle of Wight maps and saying "I want one". We explained gently to her that it's not sporting just to buy one by mail order and stick it on .... :P

I'm not disagreeing with you on that Nick, but I find it very difficult to believe a standard Octy vRS would be in the same league as the likes of the M3, Elise, VX200, FQ400 etc... it would have to have suspension + brake mods, and big turbo conversion to be in the same ballpark as those round a track IMHO.

Paul's was brakes, suspension, tyres and a remap (with a few other goodies eg CAI etc) no big turbo.

Elises are not that quick - even my Octy was catching them at Brunters last year (Exige is a different matter).

Also, not sure what tyres the journos run the tests on - if they're using road tyres, that would make a big difference. I think Paul's times would have been on slicks or semi-slicks.

No big turbo? Was this pre-K04 then?

When they drove those cars on 5th Gear Tiff especially tends to 'play' with them quite a bit, powersliding around all the corners and generally showing off and making it look fancy for the camera, which as we all know isnt the fastest way around the track.

I dont know if you will agree, but its something to consider anway :D

Thats a good time from the octy  I am guessing all the other cars were on road tyres, except perhaps the BMW CSL

but does he do that during the timed lap...? seems like he does a couple or so "playfull" laps and then does a timed "fast" lap

Also bear in mind the Tiff is/was a pro racing driver, whereas Paul drives like a white Stevie Wonder :D
