vrs fuel filter change

Recommended Posts

Hi chaps, just about to change my fuel filter and wondered how i'll be able to know if there is any air getting into the system once the new one is in place. Have read in a haynes manual that there is an inspection pipe but can't find it :/ some advice would be great! thanks :)

just swap them over. No need to fill the new one with diesel, just crank the engine over until it starts.

Contrary to this advice, you should fill the filter with fresh diesel before use, as recommended within the VAG service manual for all examples of the 1.9PD.

Cranking the engine without fuel in the filter is not the method recommended by VAG.
