Rapid spaceback

I really don't want to say this..but it looks fat in that image...doesn't really show its full potential! I'm sure it will look better in the metal...just saying! :)

Oooo, I don't agree! I was looking forward to seeing a side profile image and thought it looked better there than the launch photos!

Re: the beefa, I can see the similarity in the A-pillar and little rear spoiler, and that it is red, but that's about it.

I think it's because its a bad quality cg image to be honest :)

You can't make out the creases and form as well in the image.

It'll look more like our own version of this though :)

Good :) (except I preferred the previous gen A3!)

Škaudi A3 ftw :)

That's an A1 not an A3?

That's an A1 not an A3?

That's Audi's cookie cutter designers at work!  LOL  That IS an A3 Sportback.  That external "structure" of plastic rubbish on the front bumper, in front of the wheels, is the clue...

(the other clue of course is that there is NO way they could have built 3,000,000 A1s in such a short time!   :giggle:  )

No, its an A3 Sportback.

I like it.  The 1.4 DSG is starting to look like an option when we come to replace the Fab, as long as the interior is up to scratch.

A lot has been said about the interior of the current Rapid, but I am finding after a nearly a week and 500 miles you accept the car for what it is.

A step up from a Fabia but not as good as an Octavia.

It's practical, functional and has most of the important things you need.

I'm quite liking it!

I had a good drive of the Rapid and Octavia back to back and am starting to feel that the Rapid is like a Fabia with a boot -it's a lovely car but the Octavia is a different level. Especially at the top end of the Rapid -the one I drove was an Elegance and from the seat fabrics etc I'd have thought it was a mid range spec. Don't get me wrong the Rapid is a very nice car for the money. I've borrowed an Octavia Elegance with all of the options for the day today and that really puts things in to perspective.

Indeed :)

Yes, the A3 is now a bigified A1. I like the A1 itself, but for the A3 I found the older design looked a bit stronger, more powerful if you know what I mean.

It was the 3,000,000 which gave it away to me, otherwise I really wouldn't have been sure!

I'm not going to comment on how all Audi look nearly the same because I'm still struggling to spot the Rapid/Octy3 difference unless pretty close.

Lol this Octavia is £28.5 in this spec.

Every time I look at the Octavia (VRS or the SE 4x4) I add the options I want and end up around that figure. :)

This is why I'm starting to appreciate the Rapid.  Gets you about in comfort with enough space for around half that, although it's not got the same selection of toys.

Funny- I said that a while ago the phrase eurobox is starting to spring to mind with VAG.

WHY wont Skoda do a non DSG 1.4  :wall:

The rapid is as close as you'll get to a Mk1 Octavia in terms of spec, space comfort and price. If I was after cheap sensible motoring this would be high on my list.

I've also borrowed the 'Product Training Guide' for the Octavia, which includes a section on how to tell the difference between a Rapid and an Octavia

The big giveaway is the strip of bodywork between the grille and headlights. If its missing its a Rapid.

Or is it an Octavia.....? ;)

Hahaha  Now that is funny.  Audi needs to make this for their customers and car spotters alike.  Will help loads.

But why did Škoda create that document?

It's part of the staff training manual or 'Product Guide' for the Octavia -it's for sales staff not customers -It explains how things work and what the difference is between this and that option etc

They could've used "the octavia uses a more ergonomic design for the door handles" rather than just saying their bulky!

But why did Škoda create that document?

Probably because half of the salespeople couldn't tell the difference at first look either. :giggle:
