Cleaning Seats

Featured Replies

Hi

I finally got around to cleaning my seats today but what a ball ache, I was wondering how people found it best to clean them?

Take them out or keep them in?

i take mine out all the time, saves getting the rest of the interior wet

How easy is it all to remove?

rear bases lift up and unclip

rear backrests lean forward and near the door there is a latch you flick back then they pull out - if u have a centre seatbelt it will need unbolting

4 bolts on each of the 2 front seats

Hand spray with warm water & detergent, agitate, followed by a vax to remove the wet.

Don't do it this time of year though - wait for some sun!

I use AG's Interior Shampoo to clean my seats. It works well on car mats too.

However, I always do it when the sun is out and the car is hot inside and windows open, which helps them dry. The rear seats are easier as you can take them out.

For the front seats, cheap seat covers helps them stay clean too.

I have used Vanish Powerfoam Carpet Cleaner in the past as the pikey option.

George wet vac with APC diluted 20:1

it also depends on how quick they get dirty, if your like me (mechanic) then they get dirty after a week so no point in doing them, the other option is to go for a leather re-trim :)

I found seat covers were far cheaper. They certainly helped when I was working in a dusty Steel works. However I guess Leather would be the ultimate solution. :)
