Lower silver bumper panel.

Featured Replies

The mesh is better behind the black plastic bit behind the silver panel.

Any particular reason why, out of interest? The item that Turthseeker and TheHood sourced from Russia clips on outside the 'bars' without needing anything to be removed at all. Sounds like you wouldn't be happy with that design.

Thanks, I have already seen that.

I don't like the mesh visible out front, it looks more OEM and less obtrusive behind the grill.

The Russian mesh is a good temporary idea, but again looks like you have just clipped a bit of mesh on the grill. No disrespect, but I don't want add on stuff that looks like add on stuff :giggle:

I guess I'll have to figure out to get the bumper off as no one on here seems to know.

ps, I hope the poor guy in Spain is watching this; I'll post any news if I can get that far.

I bow to the superior wisdom of Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Schools (surely the guardians of the Queen's English) and shall amend my ways henceforth and forever.

I should think so too. No need to put you in special measures, then. Oh, I don't know ... off to the corner again, I think.

I can assure you (no disrepect) that I, and Thehood, are perfectionists and no way would fit something to a car that looks naff and does not look not like OEM. Perhaps the photos do not do the Russian Grill cover justice. Please do not make derogatory remarks when you are in no position whatsoever to comment until you have seen in the flesh.

I would agree however, that some of the DIY efforts posted previously, showing cut out plastic mesh stuck behind/in front of the grill indeed do look naff.

Apologies, no "insult" intended. I must be more sensitive to expressing my opinion on this forum - it's just my opinion of what I feel, and it's only a car!!

Yes, I've seen the photos, and I almost went that far, but not to my taste.

I wouldn't make derogatory remarks to anyone, on the keyboard or face to face - why do you feel your view is "better" than mine?

I think I'll just lurk and be like the silent majority. Sorry again if this offends you.

Well maybe the photos do not do the Russian Grill cover justice, but I for one think they look naff, certainly not like OEM, and frankly extortionate with the shipping costs included. I guess it's just a matter of each to their own, thank goodness we can each choose how to spend our own money and determine what looks good or naff, and whether or not it represents value for money.

Jerry - don't be a lurker - you're perfectly entitled to express your opinion on this Forum, maybe the silent majority actually agree with you from time to time!

We like it so don't really care what anyone else thinks so, Like Yety, I think on this topic, I will keep quiet on my intended response.

Thanks, I have already seen that.

That's a valid point and is relevant to the Russian mesh which can clearly be seen as a mesh grill, obscuring the OEM slats behind.

However, using my DIY version with thin garden mesh, painted black, makes it blend in and from more than 5 metres away it disappears and you just see the OEM slats.

Have a look at my photos in the other thread.

Food for thought?

Someone definitely posted on this forum a diagram of how to take the front bumper/bumpers off. How do I know? because I'm looking at it right now, I printed it off at the time.

The wording goes like this: The top and bottom parts of the bumper can be removed simultaneously as one part ie the two parts are connected with plastic clips. It then goes on to explain which to remove first and the continuing sequence. Looking at the diagram it seems like there are over twenty screws/clips to undo.

It then says once all screws/clips have been removed, the bumper can be lifted forward, but don't forget to disconnect thefront fog light plug, parking sensors ( if on your model ) and hoses for headlight cleaning system. ( again depending on model ) When the whole front is off the bottom can be removed from the top part.

The drawing number is S63-0091 and must have come from a workshop manual.

Hope this may be of some help, I can't post pic's, not a Freedom member.

Have a look at the link on Bahnstormer vrs's post, that's where the full instructions for removal of the Yeti front will be found, it was our good friend TP who put it on here.

No offence taken on my part, I actually intend to fit some mesh behind the upper grille as long as I can do so without any fixings being visible. I have also ordered a set of Bojo trim removers as mentioned earlier in tis thread

The beauty of the Russian cover is that there is no chance whatsoever of causing any damage either fitting or removing it. A third Briskoda member now has one, the entire process from first email to delivery took just eighteen days. I hope the OP suceeds in what he is trying to do, if not he could always throw it in the duck pond (please note the last statement is a private joke ).

Thanks, you are the third kind person to post this link of the bumper removal. I also have the software it comes from.

However, I have also posted several times that fastenings, No 1, in the drawing are difficult to see/ or even access. That's why I'm always asking if anyone has actually removed the bumper, and are there any tricks in accessing screws/bolts marked "1".
