epc light just come on code 01537?

hi just drove my 56 plate petrol vrs back from the shops and the epc light came on, i have a cheap scanner so i scanned it and the code is 01537 p0601,

i have rang the dealer and i can take it in tomorrow, i have full skoda warranty so im not worried but can anyone give me some info on what it could be and how long it will take to fix?

if, and that's an IF, the ECU's been flashed, as Ross-Tech Wiki suggests, I don't think it'll be covered under the warranty.

Battery probably needs charging. Mine was topped up by the dealer when it had it's service as they foind the charge was low, even though the battery is in good condition and the charging system was ok. These winter days having the lights, heater, rear screen etc going all the time takes it's toll.

as far as i know the car has never been chipped i bought it from the dealer its going to tomorrow in october of last year and they also supplied the warranty (full skoda), the car drives perfect still and the battery is strong so dont think thats the issue, thanks for the info i'll let you know what they say tomorrow.

It will no doubt need the 24k5 update which was probably claimed for by a dealer and never actually done.

If the part number if your ECU (as reported by a diagnostics tool) is 1Z0 907 115 0010 then it hasn't had the update, if it's 1Z0 907 115 A 0040 then it has.

I'd put money on it being 1Z0 907 115 0010 and I wouldn't be surprised if they tell you it needs a new ECU, when all it needs is the update reflash.

thanks shark_90 i'll see what they say today, i dont have the recall sticker in the boot floor for that recall just the coil pack sticker, i mentioned this to the service rep when i left it with them.

as shark said it was the software update my car needed, just picked it up and drove home without problem, they said if it happens again they will fit new ecu and i'm covered by my warranty.

The fault code relates to the checksum on the eeprom being incorrect. The eeprom is written to on a regular basis by the car (this is not where the map is, but where fault codes and adaptations are stored), it is strange how it can go on for many years and be perfectly OK yet some cars brought the same fault on within a matter of months of being new. It only happens to one version of the ECU and only in the early cars (all generally have green calipers from experience, as opposed to the later cars having red ones).
