So I've just fitted these, took me 4 hours start to finish but I struggled with a top shocker nut and had to rebuild a top strut bearing as I forgot to buy new!

Anyway put them on, rears are set to pretty much the height I want but the fronts are sat just abit too high for my liking but I'm going to let them settle when I drive to Southampton on Friday which is approx 500 miles so may well settle lower anyway.

As for the ride I'm over the moon with it! After enduring bouncy suspension that actually can bounce you off the seat this is heaven. It's stiff pretty much how my focus st was with lowering springs but not spine jarring stiff and if you go over a bump or little pot hole it does absorb it and not bounce. I've only done about 5 miles but I'm sure I will still be as happy by the weekend.

Will post some pics tomorrow and then at the weekend when it's adjusted properly. Will keep this posted

Glad to hear you're happy with them!

Chuffed with them thanks, got a slight knock from the osf, do these still suffer with the strut locking nut coming loose? Google it and this seems to be a common thing

How easy are these to adjust once ther fitted dude ?

Also wot are the drop links used for im new to coilovers :(

Really easy mate, jack it up and I find it easier to take the wheel off and wind down the adjusters by however many mm you want to go lower by or up even. You need mk1 monde drop links for it, I paid £10 each for them from a motor spares shop

Have sorted the knocking noise. Google it and apparently jom coilovers sometimes don't come tight where the insert voes into the shock. Had I known this I'd of done it before I fitted them as it takes 2 mins to do. Anyway took the osf coilovers off and did it.

To do it take the coils and everything off including the rubber sleeve and you'll see this cap

Take it off and this will be loose (where the 2 holes are)

Take that out and apply loctite then screw in and I used a hammer and screwdriver to tighten. Put everything back on and fit to car and job done.

Hard to believe jom supply coilovers without everything being tight!! Will do the nsf at some point soon. Hope that helps anyone who is going to buy a set. Literally takes 2 minutes and needs doing, the knocking will **** you up!

So I've done over 600 miles with these on now and I'm impressed with them. I keep getting the drivers spring pinging when I turn to park that I need to look into but apart from that I can't complain. It's a bit bumpy but in a solid way and not too soft like before.

The only thing that's hacking me off is setting the damn things up! The fronts are wound all the way down and imo could do with going abit lower but with this being my work car I can't take the helpers out as I do 1000s of miles a month. The rears are set to half way and I keep adjusting up to match the front. It's also tricky getting both sides to match even when measuring but once they're set I shouldn't need to touch it again so just percivering with adjusting them. This would be the case with any coilovers so not a gripe with joms.

Anyway here's a pic of how it's sat, like I said the back needs to come up a tad too match the front although I'd sooner the front match the front but not to worry

Looks good, my rear took 5 adjustments before I was happy with it, my missus was going spare because she was waiting to go out haha!

By the way this is how it looked with the bouncy lowering springs that looked to of been cut :o

And this is it now as in the post above

Hard to tell with it being dirty and a black car I know but hopefully you get a idea

I quite like the way it sits on the lowering springs! I'm so tempted to get some, my mate has a set of the H&Rs and even though its only dropped 35mm it still looks really low!

Check your PMs by the way :)

I've done the fronts 3 times and the rears about 4 now but the drivers front is slightly higher than the other side and the rears are slightly lower than the fronts :-* just want to get it all level!

It looked ok on the springs but the rear was lower than front (abit like now lol) but it was dark dangerously bouncy, it would chuck me out of the seat over certain bumps :o

^ Excellent write up, if I'd read that before I bought the coilovers I'd of probably gone shock and springs

Oh, didn't read all the thread and you had already bought...

Looks pretty good that pal think uve got me set on a set of these possibly next month :)

I take it the JOM can still be set to the std ride hight?

I want to overhaul the fabia but I dont want to drop it much, 10-20mm max in order to keep the std look and maintain ride quality.

the pics are too low for me so will these coilies be ok for something higher and whats the most you can lower and still use oem drop links?

  • Author

You could probably go higher than standard! My fronts are all the way down so there's a good 2 1/2" I could go up

when you do the fronts on these what do you need to get new?

on my octavia its got top mounts and bearings that are renewed, on these looking on etka its a storage top and a deep groove ball thrust bearing? do I just need the latter or do I need both bits?

does the std rear bump stops fit on or do the JOMs come with their own?

Std rear bump stop will fit or you can use Ibiza Cupra ones which are about half the size.
