Coilovers or shocks and springs?

Featured Replies

Got some lowering springs on my vrs at the min but they're really bouncy. Don't think they're for the vrs to be honest.

Anyway I do lots of miles in it because it's my work car and was going to get some coilovers so it's having new shocks and springs as apposed to lowering springs and was going for either jom or fk. Don't want to spend more than £200 really. Anyway I've just seen it can get some fk shocks and springs for £195 so do I go coilovers or shocks and springs? Don't want mega low but want a nice ride and a good look

If you don't like the ride as it is I strongly suggest you avoid buying coilovers at the price you have listed. You will regret buying cheap ones when the god awful ride quality knocks your filings out

The ride now is bouncy as if the springs are too soft rather than too stiff if that makes sense? Do you think a fk shock and spring kit would be a better option then?

What coilovers would you recommend?

Personally i use kw v1 stainless on my polo.

Anything around the £400 mark will be acceptable. Either weicon gt or ap etc should be fine

go for 35mm polo HnR lowering springs tha bomb and cheep as chips :)

Go for coilovers dude, I had koni springs o my days they was very bouncy then moved on to Ap coilovers. Don't waste your time.and money. Go for the coilovers.

Polo springs on a fabia ??

Increasing spring rate means that when compressed their is more energy stored/ready to spring the spring back to its normal position. So in effect stiffer springs reduce the rebound of the damper. So when you get stiffer springs you also need more rebound on your dampers to control the spring.

Polo springs on a fabia ??

Polo 9N and Fabia vrs share the same chassis

And same weight. Ibiza is lighter on the front.

Can you get away with using Jom's without shortened drop links if you don't go too low?

You could but shorter ones only cost a tenner delivered anyway.

I've got FK Coilovers from DPM and mine came with the shorter drop links anyway :)

Dude I'm exactly the same as you, I've got 40mm apex lowering springs with standard shocks, sounds like the shockers are done for now after 3 years running them..

Damian@DPM- will I need drop links with these then mate?

Just ordered mine for when my coilovers arrive tomorrow or Wednesday and they were a tenner each. Mk1 mondeo think they are the same size for every engine

That's Awsome Kyle! And is that brand new too? The JOMS do sound good they seem to be the choice that everyone go for, I just don't want the ride to be rock hard "shake my fillings out" so to speak..

Look forward to hearing how you get on with them bud!
