Does your car ever attract unwanted attention?

Featured Replies

Today my car has attracted unwanted attention twice. One of the times I was just doing a P turn, and a chav just looked at my car and went apes**t - I'll admit after this I lost my temper, had it not been for one of my friends repeatedly asking me to stay in the car I don't know what would have happened. Often people (who's parents have bought their car for them), insult my car also - sorry I don't drive a Corsa (LIKE EVERYONE ELSE MY AGE).

I drive my car because I like my car, if I didn't like it I could have brought a Golf or a Corsa by now - but a lot of people look at my car like it's a piece of ****. :wonder: Does anyone else get this in their Felicia's/Favorit's?

What's a p turn? Is that when you go all the way round the centre of a Roundabout to avoid a queue in the left hand lane or is it just me that does that?

Your not the only one, i always do that aswell haha

It's when you change direction by just turning in the mouth/junction of a new road. :)

I'd say when you ask that question because you're concerned of people's reaction, it's not the car that has issues.

I find the Felicia turns a few heads for whatever reason.

It does seem to invite the BMW/Merc/Audi idiots (you know the type) to overtake and then immediately slow down to turn off the road 200 yards ahead. They just can't seem to bear to be behind it.

Hi Tehrin, can't say I've had any particular issues apart from the odd & now quite tired skoda jest. The Fun tends to invite approving nods  or wtf ! :wonder: & that's why the Felly is the car for me ;)

I wasn't being difficult, I gave way to a pedestrian crossing the road. He started looking at me and shouting, then the people in my back seat (I don't know how they could of had issues if they wasn't driving)!

Oh, I hear Skoda jokes, and also the odd people who tend to pointlessly overtake me (the ones who I can happily ignore). :)

Exactly what I mean. Also happens when I overtake people on dual carriage ways, they have to instantly overtake me or tailgate me.

It's the sort of car people look at and immediately feel sickened that such a wretched old banger of car, especially a SKODA! could possibly have the insolence to drive in front of their superior 5 series or shiney new insignia or whatever. Bleugh!

That said, at least I own it outright and aren't paying through the nose for finance.

The 1.6 is hardly a powerhouse, but it can hold it's own I suppose. I despise tailgaters and there seems to be plenty of them when you're driving a Felly. I usually put my foot hard down and keep it there to dispatch them and they very very rarely have the balls to try and keep up. Another trick is reaching for the brake pedal and tickling it with your left foot until the brake lights come on, keeping your pace with the accelerator, however.

Theres also the good old harsh dab of the brakes, but a bit dodgey for my liking.

On the whole though I dont think I feel victimised but then I do live in quite a quiet countrified area. I've also bought a Stebel Nautilus Truck horn which I intend to fit in addition to that horrible tinny stock horn next week because I like to be trigger happy with my horn (ooh, matron!).

Oh, and I don't bother with P turns mainly due to the poor lock and physically effort (manual steering!)

It seems more & more these days no one has 5 mins to live ! I just let em go as it's easy to get locked into a cycle of equally dangerous/daft driving & who knows where it will lead if it gets to the face to face stage. A few miles down the road I'm normally one or two cars behind them anyway, so all they've bolstered is their ego. ;)

Dear friends, when you're in such an awkward situation, repeat after me:

I love my car. It took me many, many times wherever I needed in decent conditions of comfort and safety. It is a reliable, economic, and fun car to drive. Skoda is part of great VAG family for building good cars and sometimes surpassing VW quality/price ratio. I love my car.

Then look at my signature and relax.

I would but this is a rant thread. :p

Ok, rant on.

I very occasionally pop the left indicator on briefly just to signal them to overtake and they never bloody do! Besides, that's letting them beat you! haha. You're right though, these nutters overtake and tear-arse ahead of you yet never get anywhere in the end. Quick poll: how many of you fellow felicia drivers are over 60? Theres one or two round my way, a few pickups and 1.3 hatches mainly, and theyre all old timers. Makes me look even more uncool than I already am. I've only ever seen one woman driving one so far too.

 I don't own anything as modern as a new fangled Felicia, but I've been driving Skoda's for almost 23 years [since I was 18 when Skoda's really were considered a joke by many more people] so I feel qualified to comment......I really couldn't give a damn wether or not anyone likes them and I'm certainly not bothered if someone wants to overtake me. I bought my cars for me to enjoy and enjoy I do!

I'd like your comment Dave, but I've reached the limit for today. :p Can't agree with you more though, I drive my Felly for me, no one else.

I'm 18 (could be the youngest on this forum, haha), and I love my Felicia it's different to most people my age driving Corsa's, Fiestas and even VW Polos.

I cant wait till I get my felicia hatch on the road.... I thinki might spend a week baiting cosworths and scoobys till they've all learnt to leave me alone.... To be fair most of the drifters/ricers/scallywags round this district know me already

Yep, there's nothing more rewarding than see an old, unwashed, crawling Felicia suddenly overtake like mad new fancy cars because it has a bomb of an engine under the bonnet.

My mates either went for a Corsa or the classic Minis (yawn!). I suppose the mini has classic charm, but the Corsa? I'd rather have a bath in piping hot cooking oil whist covered in batter than be seen dead driving a corsa. I've just got an automatic pre-disposition for common cars, and any with a boy racer stigma.

My first Felly was a shed of a car, but I'm onto my third one now in 2 years! I try them to convince them it's a good car, but they just won't have it. I couldve bought a boring ragged to death corsa for like £2k, but no, I bought 3 fellys for less than that!! £350, £650 and £400!

Viva la Felicia!

Hi Jonesy92, know what you mean mate & loads of Felly drivers down my way are indeed the OAP variety. If you were bingo calling I'm all the 4's & I may still be trundling around in a Felly if & when I hit 60! ;)

Spot on Dave

If any of your friends give you any stick about your Felicia just type Felicia Kitcar into youtube and let them watch a couple of minutes of any of the hundreds of clips there! Bit difficult to do that to a BMW driver whose tailgating you I admit but you can at least educate those you know.

Solution #2. BUMPER STICKERS

You keep tailgating. I'll keep slowing down.

Back off please!, You're annoying my car.

Sorry For Driving So Close In Front Of You

The closer you get, the slower I go. Do the math.

I brake for tailgaters.

IF YOU DON'T LIKE MY DRIVING, TAILGATE SOMEONE ELSE

Don't tailgate me. Your honor student is in my trunk.

Come closer so I can take a picture.

Any closer and you will have to introduce yourself.

Insurance? I don't need no stinkin' insurance.

I've been to prison.. I ain't afraid to go back.

Go ahead, keep tailgating me... It'll give me that much more time to RELOAD!

Why yes, I AM riding my brakes just to annoy you.

Tailgating? R U TXTNG 2?

I may be slow, but I'm 'n front of YOU!
