Alcantara interior -12 months on

Featured Replies

In case anyone is wondering how the Alcantara interior holds up to daily use, ours is in excellent condition after 12 months and just over 11,000 miles. The rear seats have had car seats on them continuously since new, with seat protectors between the car seats and the seats to protect them from depression marks. I had all rear seats out yesterday to do a run to the council tip and once I had vacuumed away the 12 months of child detritus they came up like new, with no marks at all.

The fronts are in excellent condition, with only a slight creasing on the driver's seat squab and absolutely no wear or marks in the Alcantara itself. All stitching is intact.

Whilst I would never have chosen Alcantara myself, I am glad we ended up with it (not least because of the heated seats you get with it!). Anyway, here's the evidence...

Looks good, pity Skoda won't let you have alcantara on the elegance

Škoda UK have a lot to answer for - this is something else to add to the charge sheet :wall:

Depends on the country your ordering it from; UK we have to put up with a very restrictive options list compared to that made available by the manufacturer.

I think I would chose alcantara over the leather, and sports seats would be a nice option too (the ones from the Urban)

I'd definitely have alcantara sports seats were they offered.

What is Alcantara..looks like some version of matt leather (suede)? or is it artificial?

Any additional experiences on how the leather seats (not Alcantara) wear/deteriorate over 3 years of ownership as considering it for next car.??

The year old ones I've seen in a dealers look as if they soon loose shape with multiple creases.

Its plastic! :giggle:

Done a google and its a cleverly engineered fine artificial material which seems to require specialist techniques to clean..(artificial suede seems to be a good enough description).

No water/steam/leather cleaners or trichloroethelene or similar dry cleaning chemicals to be used.

Incorrect treatment can cause damage/dark marks.

Seems a nightmare unless treated with respect to retain its condition although widely used in luxury cars so must be OK.

Ah. Just like the 'leather', then.

Didn't take any photos of my Yeti prior to parting with it, but the driver's seat had tolerated 105kg upon it for 54k miles without sagging or creasing much at all. Not even the side bit that holds you in, but which you have to slide over to get out, had suffered any distortion.

All in all I'd call it a success. And it was possible to compare it with a scarcely used passenger seat.

I would also have gone for this, if we had the choice.

Fortunately the Elegance leather is as good as new after (almost) a year and 18k miles.

Thay are the best seats for the Yeti imo. Fell really good quality and grip the butt far better in the corners. Also, dont feel so hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I asled my dealer to ask if they could be fitted in place of the Elegance leather ones and it was a firm 'no'. Ive never actually seen them on a UK car at all - I experienced them in one of the Czech demonstrators that were doing the dealer rounds before UK launch. Very nice indeed imo.

I agree about how nice they are, but the nicest bit about mine were that they were free! I ordered it with Onyx cloth and it turned up with £1,500's-worth of heated Alcantara seats, even after being queried directly with SUK by my dealer. And I got free mats.

I wanted Alacantra when I placed my order, but they wouldn't let me either.

I agree. My gobi leather is still clean and unmarked, with just a few little creases (which make it look like real leather!) after two years and 25000 miles.

Just ordered an FL Yeti Elegance. in Moon White. It comes with black leather as standard but could have black alcantara instead but cant decide which would be most hard wearing.

Having had an 07 plate L&K Octy with Alcantara and ran it til this summer with 97+k on it, the seats stood up pretty well despite having my lumbering frame to support!

Didnt show too much wear even nearly six years on

Just ordered mine too with leather,,,,umhhh not sure now which to have...

My Octavia's Alcantara looks as new. It is an amazing material.

Whatever you do with this new option just never get the cream alcantara...  To my eyes that looks seriously awful. It looks like patches of rupert the bear they stitched into a car!

But that is just my opinion.   :giggle:

I agree it is an awful colour. Mind you will probably go with the yukky brown dash trim in the FL Elegance.

Good job I have specced the Onyx Alcantara and changing the brown trim for silver on delivery.

2 years on and 57k miles, the Alcantara in my Superb is still like it was when I had it - much prefer it to full leather and was one of the reasons I went for the SE.

I have coated mine with protectant which has certainly helped. Even the back seats (with 2 kids) are still looking good - quick hoover and they come back to life.

How do you know the product you applied to it helped though? Alcantara shouldn't need any protective sprays to perform well long term. Same with cleaning it, generally, just water is all you need.
