Might have had more luck with a Yeti

Featured Replies

Very nice :sun: day here for a change, so as you do we went the short drive up the road to Filey on the coast. While having a pleasant walk along the beach someone reversed a Vectra at speed off a slip and down to a small boat on a trailer, with the following results;

Hooked up.

Sunk :giggle:

Had a few goes but eventually gave up. Noted on the way back they had a Freelander 1 down there but were by that stage pushing the thing by hand into the sea. Not sure if the boat had become stuck launching or they just couldn't get it up the beach :wonder:

Anyway I just wondered if Vectra driver would have had better luck with a 4 pawed Yeti but I'm no expert on towing or boat launching :wonder: :wonder:

I'll be making plenty of visits to the east coast soon my parents bought a holiday home in Cayton. I ill keep an eye out for you.

I saw something similar to this many years ago in Cornwall - they eventually detached the boat and left the car - about 300 of us watched as the car was dragged and smashed on the rocks!

Has anyone got any experience of beach launching with a yeti? I was thinking of changing my wheels to insa turbo 215/65 R16 with steel rims, as per the below thread, to allow me to launch by boat from the local beaches. Using slipways can be frustrating as you have to coordinate your day around the tides.

At Bosham, West Sussex near here I live the road runs right down to a small shingle beach and people park here rather than pay to park in the nearby car park.

Walking down there some years back I heard one of the residents (whose gardens back onto the beach) shout out to a driver parked on the beach and about to walk off.  The response was a string of expletives. You might be able to guess what the resident had been telling him and the driver probably got the idea when he returned - when I came back my own walk the sea was gently lapping the bottom of the doors.

Funny things tides.

But was he in a yeti!? :D

"The response was a string of expletives". I thought that was sufficient to deduce that he wasn't in a  Yeti (a car known to be driven by a superior class of person).

I think it might have been a BMW but I think I'll leave it there.
