Grinding noise / occasional hesitation

Featured Replies

A bizarre intermittent noise has started over the last 4 weeks with my 2002 Octavia 1.9TDi.

It can only be described as a grinding noise but sounds like two thin metal discs just touching as they pass each other.

The noise seems to be coming from the in front of the drivers side axle area, and is only noticable when lifitng your foot of the accelerator when going uphill.

The noise is intermittent, and is only evident between 10 - 20 mph.

On top of this I have noticed the car has started to hesitate or act like the ABS has kicked in occasionally - don't know if this is connected with griding noise although they have started occuring at the same time.

Don't know were to begin with this one, any help/suggestions appreciated.

Sorted, turned out to be a piece of metal from the rear brake dust guard had become corroded and decided to fall off and lodge itself in the caliper/pad area.

Simple clean up job at the garage, total cost of £15.00 :)
