Octy 1.8t (220) V Impreza Turbo Mid-range

Which is where? I've posted before that mine is on the speedo at about 6400 but I've never managed to get there - it just doesn't want to. I suppose I could force it but no point.

We've had this discussion, mine drops a little then picks up in the last 5-600rpm, but happy to pull all the way.

yes we have but I don't recall anybody telling me where the redline was for the AU(x) engine ...

AUQ is 7k

ARX is 7k IIRC

Ah - so no wonder yours go better ... :(

20V head, what is yours?

Nick, below is my dyno. As you can see, I've had mine biasewd a bit more toward the top end as that is more where I need the power

What engine code is yours?

SLO? :D

Mine's also a 20V head, but smaller injectors and turbo than yours. My power peak is at 5300 rpm and the torque peak at 3800. I don't have such an extended torque curve as yours and the power doesn't have that extended peak either. My graph's in Manny's gallery under my www button.

AGU - I'll ignore the insult :D

Damn! :D

Better try a different fly next time :D

Nick,

you finished the front suspension yet? Could be drag as the car is sitting tail down.;)

Seriously though your power curse is pretty flat and goes beyond the 5k (it does dip a little) so I reckon you should be able to go higher.

Tried it on the way home - hard to count the divisions cos they are non proportional between 6000 and 7000 but it hits the limiter around 6600 (in first).

Front suspension not done, no :(

If the chip did not raise the limit it should be 6800 in the AUQ.

I can't get a reading above that in vagcom when logging.

  • 4 weeks later...

Yesterday evening I came upon a slower moving vehicle on the A30.......single carriage way which open up to two lanes. So just tucked in behind at safe distance.

Then Mr Scooby (MY03...it had a big wing and gold wheels so it may have been an STI) comes right up my a*rse but obviously can't get by (road lined either side with trees).

Anyway when road opens out to 2 lanes I floor it and pull over into inside lane waiting for him to go by. Mr Scooby keeps up as we go past 100 but doesn't go zooming by. I may even have pulled out a little on him......did really look back as I concentrating on the road in front.

Don't know whether he was holding back (I had another gear to go as well) but I reckon a modded RS can hold its own on middle to top end grunt. Off the mark Scooby is quick though.

p.s must add I didn't red line it so don't think any of this contributed to my engine problem.

A30? How far does that road go - I assumed it just went from Cornwall, through Devon, past where I live, and then ended in Dorset where it becomes the A303? Maybe I'm just losing the plot? TAXI!

A30 J7 M3 towards Basingstoke.

Yep can take A303 all the way down to Cornwall (I think or is it the A30.....anyway the one that goes past Stone Henge and Street).
