vRS TDi tyre pressures

Featured Replies

What pressures do you run in you TDi's as mine always seem to look under inflated when going off the fuel flap figures.

I used to put slightly more air in mine. Think I used to put 34psi all round.

Fitz.

I just run with what Skoda recommend. I work on the assumption that there's a good reason why they state the pressures to use.

Sarge.

tyre pressure depends on a number of factors, skoda will suggest different pressures for different loads and different conditions.

30-32psi should be fine for general everyday driving though

I use 32 at front and 30 at back for general everyday use. When loaded I put the back up to 32 and put the front to 34.

Normally every day just me in car so I have 32 in front and 30 in rear which is what skoda say................

although I must agree the fronts always look flat

I have a tdi and the front looks under inflated when set to recommended values, I had a similar issue with my tdi civic.

I think it's down to the diesel lump sitting over the front wheels and Skoda just have a generic sticker for the chassis and wheels.

I have my fronts at 36 and the rear at 32 with no luggage or passengers, I bump the rear up to 36 when I have a full load. Tyre wear looks even over the last couple thousand miles

I haven checked what skoda say mine Gould be - on my per troll VRS they wanted them at 28 (!) so I have little regard for their opinion ;)

I've had mine at 33 all round and seems about right.

Mine came from the dealership with 38psi all round so that is what I set mine to.

Edit: it seems to handle fine with them at 38psi and they deffo don't look flat

I have mine at 32 front and 31 rear.

Run the winters at about 38, I think somewhere between 33/36 for the standard tyres

how do you guys measure your tyre pressures?

I've been told the petrol station pumps are not very accurate and was maybe thinking about one of the monitors you can buy.

I have used my foot pump, my dads foot pump and his tyre pressure guage and they all read within 1 psi of each other so I would imagine that all modern foot pumps etc are fairly accurate.

I never use the air things at petrol stations because I have heard of a case where the guage on the air pump at the petrol station said the tyre pressure was 23 psi but infact the tyres had 57 psi in them.

One of my mates has a Longacre Model 50354 Digital which he bought about 5 yrs back for AUD170. He's totally OCD about most things technical & loves that gauge.

To the OP: 36-38psi all round

Food for thought:

I had 34 front on mine and they needed replacing after 6 months. I now stick exclusively to the manufacturers recommendations.

35psi in mine all-round.

What indications did you have that make you believe 34psi was incorrect & Skoda's recomended (30psi??) was closer to the money?

Which engine, body & tyre size?

32psi front and rear on my 2010 vRS TDi. It's a saloon / hatch or whatever the favorite name is this week!!

I'm running Vredestein Ultrac Vortis all round.

2l CR TDI, Estate, 225/40/18

The fact that they were illegal in the centre of both tyres indicated that 34psi was too high.

I also run 32psi all round with the 225/40-18 Conti 2 summer tyres and 35psi all round with my 225/45-17 Nokia WR D3 winter tyres fitted to my 2012 vRS CR FL hatch.

I've been running 2.2 bar front and 2.3 bar rear on my summer and winter tyres for 6 years now and I've never had any issues with my tyre treads. Winter tyres are Pirelli Sottozero serie II, summer tyres were Vredestein Ultra Sessanta but just had 4 Vredestein Ultra Vorti's fitted. All excellent tyres!

(2008 vRS tdi hatchback, tyre size 225/40 R18 92Y)

Ran 2.2 bar all round on my Blackline estate, factory low loading front pressures seemed a bit low IMO.

I run 33 rear, 31 front.

I use a standard Halfords digital tyre inflator - had it for a good few years now and love it.

I get around 18,000 miles out of the fronts and, aside from a recent sawtoothing issue, get around 30,000 out of the rears, using those settings.  Always get even wear across the tyres too, and no issues with handling, grip, traction, or ride comfort.
