Wiper motor testing

Featured Replies

Hey guys, recently got a Octavia vRS (2007) and the rear wiper motor has died. I realise this is a very common problem but I can't find any details on how to test it.

I have stripped the old motor down and there was a little moisture but no corrosion to speak of. If the motor connected and the boot shut there is 12-14v between the 2 outside cables on the plug (the thicker ones) but no change when the wiper is turned 'on' on the stalk. Can hear a relay click on when the stalk is flicked forward.

Anyone know what voltages should be present and switched so I can test before shelling out for a new motor?

Thanks

I've been trying to find out how to get at the motor. How do you remove the trim that covers it?

You need to remove the gran handle and the plastic cover around the boot lid area, its an absolute pain to remove, dealers replaced my wiper motor and failed to put the trim back properly what an effort that was.
