cable route from engine bay to inside cabin help please

Featured Replies

Can anyone please tell me the easiest route for getting a cable from the engine bay into the car?

With out removing or as little removing as possible of any panels?

thanks

There should be a grommet where the cables go through on the glove box side, just remove the glove box.

Get a rod and tape the wire required to it and poke it through

Thanks

Found the grommet in the engine bay. How do i remove the glove box? Anyone got the link for the online instructions manual on how to remove?

The Elsawin online site recently removed the VW / Audi / Skoda / Seat manuals after a cease and desist from VAG and now the whole site has gone off line. I"m not aware of an alternative.

Does this mean i need to search the briskoda site for pages that have been copied in from Elsawin (not links)

or are there downloads of the Elsawin manuals? Like http://www.filestube.com/e/elsawin+skoda

There are only 4 or 5 torx screws holding the glove box, one is behind the dash end cover, that pops off

When you remove the dash end cover there appears to be a grommet up high at the bottom of the windscreen not used!!

Can this be used rather than removing glove box?

Also how do you remove the plastic trim in the engine bay at the bottom of the windscreen? Does it seal to the glass? Any manual extracts or tips?

Ideally the wipers need to come off to remove the scuttle trim, but it is possible to remove the passenger side with the wipers on.

The trim pushes into the windscreen rubber, personally I would not do it whilst it is cold, warm the plastic up to room temperature 1st.

Just out of interest what are you trying to do?? or fit??

Trying to connect Front camera located under registration plate to car display inside car.

Want easiest access through from engine bay to car with out causing any water ingress problems.

Found octavia video that shows the octavia has a grommett that can be used by just taking off passengers dash end.

Think i may has found one on superb when dash end is off but cant find it in the engine bay assume i need to take off all the windscreen scuttle in the engine bay to find.

Was hoping somebody would have already discovered if this is possible to use this rather than removing glove box as not sure about doing glove box removal as air bag sensors and latch seemed to be the two problem areas when doing this from chasing forums.

Would have thought that there must be an easy way as i dont recall the glove box coming out when the tow bar was fitted and that has a cable running through to car from the engine bay but cant chase this or see where it goes. Must be an easy way that skoda use for fitting accessories that end to pass cables through!!!

It's most likely the same software, anyone selling it (online or physical discs) will have sourced it this way. VAG are tightening up on piracy - understandable as they cost a lot to produce with only a limited market of main and indepentant specialist dealers. The latest versions connect (unless manually blocked by a firewall exception) to periodically check for authenticity and blocks unofficial copies.
