Love the show and glad to see the enthusiasm for the superb looks dead weird without all his gear on :D

See he got the L&K model.

Is it the lad in the middle?

Thats cool. My family loves this show and the Superb II Combi.

I took a look at the Skoda Ireland website - didn't see the picture, but saw the Price List............. They're paying a good bit more than us, when you do the EURO > GBP conversion

Our government LLLUUUVVVSSS to take as much as they can from the average motorist. Sorry it was on the Skoda Ireland page on facebook. Annesley Williams is the dealership in Dublin.

I hear what you're saying. You always have paid more for your cars, Dave, even when the Celtic Tiger had claws. Been travelling to Eire all my life (my father was raised in West Cork), and have always seen a huge contrast in vehicle prices, both new and used.

Mind you, prices of cars in Eire even look reasonable when I hear what my son is considering paying for a car in Australia! Nice car (Ford Falcon) but scary prices. Haven't looked to see how Skodas are priced in OZ.

Well What the feck is going on here!!!

Ian

Check what the prices are here in Denmark, before crying anymore :) (We are really getting F...´ed)

That's Nice..........

KSR - you are right, over here we look at the prices of cars in Europe and US with great envy. However, it must be said that our average wages are somewhat higher than yours or the Yanks. And we have had 20 years of continuous economic growth - thanks partly to our long-running mining boom and stable, reasonably effective government. We didn't even go into recession during or post the GFC. Unemployment is low, growth solid, wages high and life is pretty god for most people. And our dollar is very high (worth a bit more than the US and historically high against the GBP and Euro) so our imported goods have fallen significantly in price eg TVs, clothes etc, though not cars much. So we aren't in a position to complain really and people are buying cars in record numbers, and for higher value/more prestige brands. Cars like the locally built Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore are plummeting in sales as people move to more sophisticated, and different cars such as SUVs. We now have the second most car brands to choose from of any country in the world, yet our car market is only around 1,000,000 sale pa.

FYI the cheapest Superb, the 118TSI DSG is $43,420 or 29,464 GBP Remember, our cars come with many things standard which are options over there. A 125TDI DSG Elegance costs $50,110 or 34,004 pounds and the dearest, the V6 191FSI Combi 4x4 (which I have and is very highly equipped as standard) is $64,825 or 43,989 pounds. THese are driveaway prices including registration and Compulsory Third Party (bodily injury) insurance and all taxes - which is how manufacturers and dealers are required by law to quote prices here. Skoda is a relatively new brand here having only re-entered the market in 2007 (after leaving in the 60s) and is priced similarly to VW though better equipped. It is still building a model range, dealers and identity so sales are quite low and competition fierce.

Don't feel sorry for us - we have petrol which is 2/3 your cost, mostly lightly trafficked roads, lots of brands and models to choose from and decent driving weather. On the downside, speed limits are low and enforcement is very aggressive. You have to be careful even exceeding 110kmh in the open country and speed cameras multiply at about the same rate as the rabbits you so graciously sent us a couple of hundred years ago! Thanks guys! :giggle:

You are right, KSR, the Falcon is a decent car particularly on the terrible Aussie country roads. The XR6 turbo with 270kw and 533nm of torque it a complete hoot to drive and insanely fast for essentially a large, affordable family car you can cart the kids in, whack a caravan on, or pound rural dirt roads with - how does about 5.3 secs to 100kmh sound. May not have Euro or Jap quality but the handling, performance and fun factor is very high while being completely practical. And there are more powerful versions if you really must! I would have one, but I need a wagon and I prefer higher quality cars, hence my Skoda V6.
