I think if you get system too rich code that ECU will put you in soft limp mode.

If I was you, I get it mapped ASAP!

I have a trackday this Saturday, so I can't get it mapped again before then.

So... i'll have to reset the ecu (disconnect power to the battery for a few mins and touch terminals together, as I won't have a laptop with me) before I go out on track, which will reset the adaptations, and then probably do it again after 2 or 3 sessions, and then again before I leave, if it does throw it into soft limp mode.

To be honest I think if the spray pattern is the same as vrs injectors ECU should be able to adapt to new injectors without any problem, system too rich would be triggered if fuel trim passes -25%. I`m not familiar to ECU programming but I have read that injectors have some sort of base map or what is called and this should be adjusted to every injectors.

So just to be on a safe side you should map it ..

Shame you don't have torque on your phone, you can set it so it automatically deletes fault codes as they come up

So if it will happily allow upto -25% before getting upset I think it "should" be ok as it is.

I would fit the new LCR injectors and 3bar fpr back on, but I have a feeling that will make it over fuel even more.

EDIT: I see it's on the crapple app store, but I still don't have a dongle and I also need to use the wifi to control the gopro.

From the last post on the other thread (sorry David, didn't mean to take your thread so far off topic).

The part number for the 4bar fuel pump assembly from a cupra R is 8L0 919 051H, pierberg part no. 7.02700.00.0

Hang on, if a 4bar fpr increases the fueling by approx. 15% and now my ecu is removing fuel by 15%, that means the 3bar fpr is faulty then right ?

I guess it also means that the old fuel pump was also struggling as the issue was still there before with the 4bar reg and stock fuel pump, so I have actually fixed something.

Your stock pump was either faulty or incapable to deliver enough fuel at high revs due to technical specs.

4 bar fpr helps injectors in delivering more fuel at higher rpms but in midrange it pumps more that is required so the fuel trims are negative.

In my opinion your 3bar fpr was OK.

Ahh but for the last week or so, I've been running with a 4bar LCR pump and the stock 3bar fpr, and it was having the same issue in 4th at 5500rpm remember. The only reason it had gone in the lower gears, was that I've had the car mapped around the issue.

Ok, so do I leave it as is for the weekend, or do I fit the 3bar fpr back on and fit the lcr injectors too ?

If your calculations are correct (23% more fuel with the lcr injectors) then I think i'm better off keeping the 4bar fpr on for now.

Right now I have stock injectors, LCR 4bar pump and 4bar fpr fitted.

OK, I did understand you correct :)

You really don`t have to worry about anything or try to map it because ECU will compensate surplus of fuel at idle,low&mid rev and ad fuel at higher rpms.

Ok I will leave it like this until after the trackday, then next week I will fit the 3bar fpr again and the LCR injectors and see what happens.

If all is good then I will get the car booked in to be remapped again :D

Yes this is my intension, but what I don't want to do is fit them now, and findout that it suddenly goes - 23 -25% on the fueling as I won't be able to adjust anything to keep it within limits.

OR even worse, findout that the fpr really isn't good, and then the fueling is only just within limits to stop it hitting the lean throttle cut, as there is a chance it would get worse when being used hard on track this weekend. As fitting the 4bar fpr back on with the lcr injectors wouldn't help things then either.

David, you should also check your fuel delivery system.

I know for at least four more cases were the fuel system was faulty and was causing all kinds of problems. My tuner first question was: When did you replaced your fuel pump? I was like; what? :wonder: Never..

It's a good point, all these cars are around 8 - 12 years old now and mileage also plays a large part in it.

First hand info;

Octavia vrs fuel pump 1J0 919 051H is a 3bar pump and LCR pump 8L0 919 051H is a 4 bar pump! They are NOT the same 100%!!

So I have ordered a LCR pump and I hope this will finally solve my agony :doh:
