I don't know if it is because I am really grumpy at the moment (man flu for the past two weeks!), but I reckon people like this should be "taken out" if you get my drift. They spend all their lives ri

Make sure the transfer has been cleared by your bank ASAP, he might not have the funds to support it.

Good Luck

Hi mate, it's already in my bank? So I guess that's all cleared as banks do this fast transfer now?

If you do decide to go round to see him, take at least 1 witness with you to confirm everything said. Also write it up immediately.

I will do, I just hope it don't have to get the that point, being Sicilian I only got a short fuse as it is, that's why I think, if I don't get the rest the police can carry on there side

I dont know, check with your bank, they are the experts in these matters. (so they say).

I would do my own form of justice on him. It would possibly involve a metallic item

174miles from me

Id laugh if he had a ****y briskie with in single digit miles

There is no need, faster payments between accounts are instant and not possible to complete unless the sender has funds. They are also non reversible, the only way the money can go back is if the receiver sends it back.

Nope, it could be taken out the following day, so please check.

He sent me the £50 bank transfer so that's a step really

Just for interest, did you provide him with your bank account sort code, number and name to enable him to transfer funds to you?

Yeah, that's a HUGE no-no to pass that on to anybody of a dubious nature.

Waits for OP to find himself bankrupt :$$$: :@

How is passing on just a Bank account number and sort code going to cause any harm if the person doesnt know anything about the account holder other than his name?

Well if he knows your name and address it wouldn't take much to get a direct debit or standing order set up to himself or something of that nature

I am always puzzled by this as I try and pay people by BACS for a charity that I am treasurer of, and some balk and ask for a cheque.

I ask them 'Will you write me a cheque for five pounds if I give you ten pounds cash'? The answer is invariably YES.

Then I say ' Well then I will then have your sortcode, account number AND name of account', so what is the difference. When paying by BACS I do not even need the name of the account.

Yes jezza got caught, but the direct debit guarantee states unauthorised payments will be refunded.

Also standing orders can only be set up by the payees bank not by the recipient account.

this paul woodward has been doing this for a longtime, their is a big thread on edition 38 about this guy.

Yeah I provided account number and name ect, but if he try's that its another count of criminal action which is even worst as the banks would find this as fraud

You need more than just sort code / name & acct number to be able to remove money from a bank account now, online requires a couple of passwords & security questions to verify who you are before you can get into the account to move any money.

Having worked in a Bank for 9 years, I have a complete hatred for direct debits as it gives free access to your account to be able to empty it out in 1 hit by an unscrupulous company employee.

its mental forums are here for the greater good not greater profit
