Spotted a Fabia saloon today, first time I have seen one in the UK, thought they were in Europe only ? It was from a main dealer, 02 reg, so presumably wasn't an import.

Also saw an Octavia in Elegance trim yesterday, with headlamp washers, again thought these were only available in Europe (or possibly on the L&K) ?

Seen unregistered Fabia Saloons at my local dealer - quite a deep boot but very small opening!

Fabia saloons are available over here, but are pretty rare as not many people seem to want them.

Octavia Elegances all have headlamp washers, it's one of the ways to tell them from the poverty specs... ;)

...and from the vRS!
:D

I saw my first 1.2 Fabia - and I thought the lettering said it was a 1.2 "HTP" - I'd loved to know exactly what HTP stands for...? Any ideas?

You get to the back of the queue, young feller-me-lad! I'm still waiting for Mattijs to tell me what JTD stands for .... :D

HTP = High Torque Performance.

uniJet Turbo Diesel...

Sorry for the delay, Nick! I really didn't forget about it...

Well done, Mattijs. Good to see a foreign manufacturer using English for abbreviations! Now all we need to work on is getting everyone to drive on the LHS of the road...:D

I had a Fabia saloon 1.9 SDI as a courtesy car when the vRS was in for a service. A nice wee drive as far as comfort goes. Felt quite grown up in it. Engine is gutless though, the Octavia with that engine must be even worse.

Well - if HTP stands for high torque in a 1.2 petrol, I'll eat my hat. :D

As an aside, it was making good progress from a standing start, and it was even being driven by a gent of mature years (is that politically correct?). Whether he had his boot on the floor I don't know...

edit: I also had an SDI fabia for a while. Unfortunately it was my current car when the turbo had its little intermittent problem... :( All fine now though - New turbo on warranty - yay!!

I used to own an Astra 1.4 Hi-Torq - petrol engine, about 68bhp.

It's all relative... :p

And in case you are wondering why the things aren't called UTD, I've just learned that the latest generation JTDs are in fact multiJet Turbo Diesels... :D

So what's a Jet anyway?

Anything to do with common rail?

(Off-topic, I know...)

Had an Octavia SDI Ambient Estate for a curtsey car while mine was in for warranty work. Absolute pants!, The following week had an Elegance TDI 110 hatch and this was much better, though it still had that annoying clatter

Pretty sure you can only get the SDI in classic, TDI90 in ambiente and TDI110 in the Elegance...

:D

Hey, Ian,

Nice anorak!

<....runs away.......>

Nothing like a bit of banter on a Friday afternoon. :D

hehe, it's just revenge for me having to fix his link..... ;)

(the reason I know is I was actually looking at swapping mine for a diseasel, tho thankfully I saw sense!)

Nothing like a bit of diesel-dissing for a Friday afternoon... :D

Ah well, I got one of them right. Thing is they all look the same accept for the vRS which looks cooooooooool :D

I'm pretty sure that we have a Fabia saloon owner amongst us. If my memory serves me correctly, DAN has a gold Fabia saloon. Still haven't spotted him yet and he only lives a few minutes from me! :D

I see one on the M4 from time to time - pale metallic blue ...
