Being a typical man I have been driving my new Citigo SE greentech for a week now and thought I would have a quick look through the owner's handbook.

On page 61.......

? If the brakes are applied in full and the control unit for the braking system considers

the situation to be dangerous for the following traffic, the brake light

flashes automatically. After the speed was reduced below around 10 km/h or the

vehicle was stopped, the brake light stops flashing and the hazard warning light

system switches on. The hazard warning light system is switched off automatically

after accelerating or driving off again.

I didn't know my car had this ???? Is it a standard fitting on all Citigo models?

Fortunately so far I have not needed to test it.

yup, my fabia does it too....

Had a couple of emergency brake situations but don't think my hazards started flashing, obviously can't comment on the brake lights.

Lots of cars do this now. But in F1 they don't have brake lights. That light comes on when visibility is poor and normally when Intermediate or full wet tyres are being used.

It can be enabled if not already done on all later cars (2009 onwards I would think, nor sure on older cars)

You can have either brake lights flashing under very hard braking, the hazards will flash when you come to a stop, or you can have the hazards flash when you brake very hard.
