6 Days Until I'm A Skoda Owner (Hopefully!)

Featured Replies

Hi all... With any luck I will be the proud owner of a 10-plate Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI DSG hatch with 58k on the clock (so looks like repmobile life before). 1 previous owner.

I say hopefully because it's only reserved subject to inspection at the moment and I have to travel for a couple of hours to see it. My only worry is that it was suspiciously cheap, but the dealer (not franchised) made all the right noises and worse case I'll just walk away with my only loss being a tank of petrol. Anyhow, priced at £7699, I thought that this model was definitely worth seeing - especially as the 1.8 TSI seems to be as rare as hen's teeth (unfortunately can't give a link as it's off their site and Autotrader due to it being reserved). Doesn't seem like it's in their interest to lie about condition as they've held it for a couple of weeks when they could have been selling it to other people.

Anyhow, for the inspection, does anyone have any tips about what specific stuff I should be checking for that model both on the forecourt and the test drive? Obviously I am going to check all the normal stuff - bodywork, overspray, fluids, hot/cold starting, electrics, etc, etc but I was wondering if there were any known foibles with the DSG box or whatever that I should be checking out?

Many thanks in advance and fingers crossed for Saturday.

Hi and welcome aboard.

So...... How did it go? :-)
