Please can anyone tell what sized socket is needed to remove the glow plugs from a Fabia 1.4 Diesel. My mate tested the glow plugs and they showed as being OK but I am going to replace all three in the hope of reducing a really bad spluttering and smoking on start up, not the just normal plume of diesel smoke you expect from the car .

Just wondered if anyone has any ideas as to whether this could be a fuel or air sensor related problem

Did he test the plugs only or the complete system? The plugs could be OK, but a relay failure would give no hot plugs at startup and hence the problems you described.

U will need a deep 8mm or 10mm socket + a magnet or slim nose plyers to replace the glow plugs m8..

Id replace all 3 1st.. then see how it starts..

Theres never any harm in replacing them as they dont last forever
