Fiat 500L

Featured Replies

Just seen the new Fiat 500L five door in a newspaper for the first time and looked up the price on the Fiat website.

The basic diesel version is only £500 cheaper than a New Octaivia "S" 1.6 CR TDi!!! Amazing. Makes you realise how good value Skodas really are.....

Fiat shouldn't have bothered with this.

They won't be as successful as the 2 door.

People buy them because they are cute, not well specced,

not fast, not particularly good cars at all. but cuteness they have in spades.

The non Arbarth ones are aimed at females, but I can't work out who they

are aiming the L variant at?

The 4 door will not sell at all well IMO.

But I really like this :)

Reminds me of a Mini 4x4 (countryman?).

That's not really a good thing though!

Have you seen one in the metal? It's much, much bigger than a 500 or the Mini. Don't be fooled by the 500 name - it's a good sized family car.

Fiat also traditionally do very healthy discounts so you'll potentially pay less than an Octavia.

Seems the manufacturers are making cars to be more individualistic fashion statements rather than efficient dynamic cars?

Yep, that's why we get things like the Yeti and Roomster.

Better than 15 years ago when everything started to be designed in a wind tunnel and they all looked the same jelly mould shape.

Agreed!

Saw one in metro centre and they have parked it next to the 500 trying to give the impression of next generation 500..its bloody huge!

Its giving the wrong idea about motoring in my opinion, i owned some of the smallest cars and still managed to fit everything in. The biggest car anyone ever needs (unless you keep reproducing past a 5 seater) is Octavia/Paasat/Golf/3 series ect

But then again if you keep producing then im guessing looking for a nice motor is removed from your things to do..

I had one as a hire car in Austria. It was a 1.4 petrol thing. Possibly the most underpowered car I've ever driven and it drank fuel too.

It was certainly roomy and well equipped, but I had the feeling that bits would be falling off pretty soon.

Was that a 500 ?

or IMHO the new ugliest new car being launched, the 500L ?

More bloated than a MINI Countryman.

I gipped when I first saw it, along with the countryman and thanks for making me gip agian

I learnt to drive in an original Fiat 500L (1966 model). Now if you want an underspecced underpowered car.....

The new Panda is a terrific little car, the 500 i have a soft spot for too. However this, like the MINI, is flogging the trendy 500 franchise beyond credibility IMHO. Go to fiatsupasaver and get a new Panda twinair for 8k: much better value snd much better packaged. Oh and the two cylinder sounds terrific when you gun it and nippy too. Aparently this will have a 105 hp version of that engine but a parallel twin growl in one of these will sound daft!

yuk looks like a mini pope-mobile.

The country man...

I wouldn't touch another fiat. So many problems and the local dealer sucked too. My 500 is being swapped for a fabia vrs on Wednesday. Good ridence

Yes, it was a 500L. Interesting there were a couple of occasions when we parked it and found a few people taking an interest in it. (Not in a "I want to steal that" way, but in a "Ooh look, it's one of those new Fiats" kind of way).

There's a "fartherhood" one to go with it as well now.

Good luck :D:rofl:

Just watched that one and it sums up everything that was wrong about the 80's!

Years ago our NHS ambulance service ran FIAT Ducato 2.8DTIs as paramedic vehicles. The fleet fitters called them

FIX

IT

AGAIN

TOMORROW,s!

They now run Mercedes Sprinters.......

Yes, and Fords are Fix Or Repair Daily, and Skodas have heated rear windscreens to keep your hands warm when pushing them.

Jokes from the 80s aren't necessarily all that relevent now.

My Mk2 Octavia had quite a few more trips to the dealer including one for a failed turbo than the Bravo I'm currently driving

Indeed it does.

Nice ads though

Noticed Alfa now has a 5yr warranty on some motors. I can remember Fiat doing this for a little while but they stopped.

A cheap Fiat on a 5yr warranty would sell to lots. Shame the dealers up here are all Arnold Clark.

I just missed out on the 5 year warranty by a month on my Bravo which is a shame.

Agreed! Although I do like skodas (I've had 4 so far and now looking for number 5) they have been less reliable than any of my two citroens or two renaults.
