Yes I know what you mean. I've started looking at my other cars and thinking about how I can correct them. Thanks

I'm glad it's all sorted and your happy with the result and the product.

Whats life for if we can't help someone out. Glad you like it mate.

Can this P1 be used on plastics, to remove swirls, or only painted surfaces?

What sort of plastic is it, out of curiousity? Is it painted plastic or lacquered plastic (such as on 'B' pillars).

I've seen it used on sky box cases, sinks, kettles (metal and plastic), pretty much anything a valeter or detailer has ever seen a rough, scuffed or scratched surface really.

Idle hands do strange things with car cleaning products.

B pillars - tried some caravan window cleaner which promised to remove swirls but I couldn't get any improvement. This looks promising... and will work on the paintwork anyway, if the plastics don't improve.

Awesome stuff in my opinion, really recommend it!

It's great on these. This was our SS II Combi direct from the dealership with less than ten miles on the clock.

2.5-3cm scratch on B pillar, before.

After a little taping up with some auto low tack tape to protect rubbers (polish can be an ar5e to get off rubbers and textured plastics) and a polish.

Best to seal with a good glass or ceramic shield afterwards like Ceramishield or Gtechniq C1+ or similar as these surfaces scratch easily.

Blimey! Looks like it'll sort the issues on my Yeti then. Is that tape available from places like Halfrauds?

From what I can see on there website, Halford don't do the '3M blue tape'. But you can get it direct from 3M at

or from any car cleaning site, such as

They are four of the eight main sites I get my stuff from.

I hope it's okay posting links to these sites and not breaking any forum rules.

Yes, thats the stuff that svend sent me.

Did this many years ago on an old car, hanging out football scarves on the way to and from a match, It made a right mess, so I feel your pain here!

Finally had a chance to try out the P1 (polish, not the McLaren or Impreza sadly) and it's worked wonders. The swirls have gone. Looks infinitely better, and I didn't really have a proper go at it, after watching some You Tube clips since.

Very impressed.

Really good stuff and it's not full of fillers that wash away!

How aggressive/abrasive would you say it is?

No fillers so what you see is what you get.

P1 polish is pretty much a pad dependant polish meaning that when using a rotary or DA polisher can be used as a finishing polish when used on a finishing soft pad or an aggressive cutter when using a wool pad, but when used by hand can vary by how much pressure you apply or how long you keep at it. As it's non diminishing you can keep working it (may necessitate a 'spritz of water from time to time to stop it drying or clumping) or stop when your happy with the finish and wipe off with a microfibre. There are no fillers as above and no oily residue left behind.

I'd agree with this - I used a soft foam-based pad, designed for applying polish from what I can gather. And I only rubbed the polish on for a short while, not applying too much pressure, and the swirls which had been so apparent on the pillars have gone. I reckon more pressure and more effort (longer spent on it) I'll get rid of the small scratches on them too.

It is amazingly easy to use though. Apply, rub on, wipe off with an MF cloth and you're left with a shiny panel. It's the second Gtechniq product I've used now and have been blown away by both.

C4 was the other one, which treated the plastics on my old Scooby (sold now) transforming the trim, mirrors and door handles from a faded grey to looking almost new again, and making the trim on my Yeti look the bee's knees too. Now it looks fab after washing - nice and dark!

It might be expensive compared to other products, but from what I've seen, it's worth it.

If you have any C4 left apply it to the pillars and it's give the plastics a little more scratch protection, the shiny plastics are very easy to scratch even gently witht he back of a finger nail can cause an unsightly mark. C1, C4 and C5 are the same thing though are sold as for body, plastic and wheels respectfully. This was mainly due to people incorrectly applying to the body and then saying the product was bad and caused Gtechniq to only sell C1 for body use to professional detailers but now on the website carries a disclaimer you must 'tick' before you can purchase it.
