Is the mk2 Fabia vRS Replacement available already!

Featured Replies

It's just too expensive. No doubt the new vRS will be similarly priced. Don't think I will be purchasing another new car after this current vrs.

Unless it uses oil and you get annoyed with mpg...

Look forward to seeing your grey one, I wanted a grey estate but colour wasn't available at time of ordering.

I didn't mean I would be keeping the vrs for ages, simply meant I would not change for a brand new car as they are becoming too expensive. Will have to buy a used car in the future.

Ah I see. Yes, new cars are expensive, I prefer a new car myself but fancy an older car as a project at some point.

Too expensive, worse performance and judging by the vids handling is worse than crap (unless drivers were compete tools of course!), has no boot at all and economy is shocking. That combined with no power down the lower end... To be avoided:).

Thread Revival.

Maybe one to interest Mrs Furbytom as a Fabia vRS Estate replacement,

a Ford Focus Estate 1.5T Ecoboost Petrol 6 speed Automatic 182ps Titanium X,

if you can find a Dealer willing to do a good discount on one.

Looks quite nice that. I'm sure it'll drive nicely being a focus. Not sure if Mrs Furbytom will like it tho, have a feeling she won't be keen but might be worth floating it as an option :-)

people say that tom, BUT did you read the evo hot hatch edition recently, with the new ST? we assume it will be one of the best handlers (I assume the mini is too , you tend to assume ford and mini get the handling right) ) but both the ST and the mini got panned.... I was very suprised by the testers comments (several drivers not just one writer)

They rave about the fiesta (not included in this test) but really dislike the new focus ST, and the new mini cooper, the kia 1.6 turbo got a better review than either of these, they even liked the astra VXR more! it came down to the megane and the leon 280, very close between these two, and they went for the megane.

Do ANY of these cars have an Estate (Combi) version? The four key appeals of the Mk. II Fabia vRS (to me at least) were that:

  • there was an Estate verision
  • the DSG box seemed great
  • it is understated (i.e. doesn't have 'go faster' gimmicks all over the show)
  • it has good performance out of the box

I was less impressed by the noise and ride but could have put up with thoes characteristics but finally I was put off it because of the fear that it would be an oil-drinker.

I have to say I do like the look of the Mk. III Fabia Estate, I will just have to wait until it has been about for 12 months and then reconsider.

Leon and MEgane are in a different class power wise than the rest.

In MK2 vRS class the twincharger flat torque curve and DSG stands it above anything else really in driveability, power delivery and performance. Handling wise just change to Eibach 40mm lower springs and whiteline RARB and you are sorted. Having installed the latter yesterday I can join the chorus of platitudes for how revolutionary a handling change this extremely cheap and easy to install mod provides. It literary scared me yesterday, sweaty palms and fast beating heart on my usual routes - those of you who know how I can drive on a track will understand what it means :D.

So, having paid £15k for brand new vRS I cannot see anything even remotely offering the same bang for buck.

Keep the Toyota and Clio, thank you very much :)

Leon estate 1.8tsi dsg 182ps has nice suspension and can be bought for less than the last prices some Skoda dealers were asking for a Mk2 Fabia vRS estate. Bargain.

It's a fair point Dave. Never assume anything haha! Had a mooch around our local Ford dealer earlier but didn't see anything to get me interested. Sat in a Focus ST. The recaros are very comfy and the boot a decent size but it was way more cramped in the back than I expected, which I think is partly down to the sheer bulk of those front recaro seats. Manual only so pointless for SWMBO and I didn't like any of the non-ST variants which do have an auto option.

My local seat dealer has a Leon 280 DSG estate on order for demo and they are going to ring me for a blast in it when it's here. Should be interesting. They've also got a nice FR 1.8TSi estate DSG in-bound which I'll also take a look at.

If I was pushed to change the Furby today the Leon (280) would likely get my vote but to be honest nothing really ticks all the boxes like the current vRS estate does.

In an ideal world I'd chop it in for a Golf R but we are talking significant extra ££££ and I don't know if I can be bothered to fork out for one when I've got the M135i to enjoy for that level of high performance.

SWMBOs preferred motor would be the new Polo GTi which ticks a lot of the boxes including decent value. Snag there is it's small size. She'd love one tho! I think we'd end up cursing the tiny boot and would get fed-up of tiny feet kicking the backs of the front seat....

Looks like we will be continuing in the Furby for the moment. There is no rush to change it really, it's just my daft car-buying addiction that needs to be brought under control! :-)

i tried the clio, i wasnt impressed enough to buy one over the VRs, didnt feel quicker, i dont have a timing machine only gut feeling but that was enough for me to judge it

it handles well enough but i cant complain about the VRs, on a road its more than capable and knowing a lad who bought the clio i can say its a lot thirstier that the VRs, we drive the same roads and he gets a lot less than me yet drives slower :/

I think the clio is better looking and equipped though but does that justify more money? only the end user can say that

the GT was one of the few cars i didnt try over the past 6 months looking

Leons are nice... Cupra is just frigging nuts. I'm loving it :D They aint perfect, but its a big step up from the vRS. Deaf worth taking one out for a blast, although the stock rubber is terrible so take that into account when trying to get traction.
