  • I'd imagine there would be an equal number of complaints if she's insisted they use some back street garage for a fraction of that and the job was crap.

Sorry to see that

Why £1,140?

Who is quoting that figure, to put it back as was, someone supplying a courtesy car and milking the system,

or has she to replace the car for another.?

Has the side already been resprayed and a difficult re-match?

No they said it needs a new door ? When I saw it I initially thought a good panel beater and re spray maybe £400, however she's paying cash for the work , but they want to re spray all the side

LOL, i am sure they do.

Prepping a new Door is quite profitable, not difficult and a good profit margin.

I take it she thinks that cheaper than an insurance claim.

To me its 5-6 hours labour and £120 materials & of course VAT.

£250 + 120+ 80 = £440 -£500 for good measure.

george

Replacing the interior door card? Really?

When you say replacing the wing mirror I assume you meant respray the wing mirror! Even then I've never known a bodyshop to blend a respray over the colour coded wing mirror cap.

I actually feel sorry for the poor woman who is paying £1,200 out of her own pocket. It seems like a genuine accident and she has owned up to it. Can you not cut her some slack and phone around for some cheaper non-main dealer quotes?

It is only a £3K car after all.

Dent doctor would be able to get that out, 1200 quid to repair a 2000 car seems stupid.

If genuine accident and fully owned up I would get some better wuotes. Seat are taking the **** somewhat

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item20d03c92ce or http://www.ebay.co.u...=item1c30cfef38 for example, plus (I'd imagine) no more than 4-6 hours labour. Even at £55 p/h that's less than £400 all in.

Maybe this is why people don't own up, when honestly is repaid with massively over-inflated bills/quotes. . .

(I know they're not black, I wasn't going to search through all 450 results to make a point)

Seb,

has your son got Cash in hand now,?

because i can imagine the Lady or some family/friend saying, WTF, no way.

(then them saying, he's Insured, which is true,

and you are actually required to notify your insurer, claim or no claim.

I know we do not do this and its going to be poo pooed.)

Why she should have made sure she friggin held the door properly rather than just pushing door open , not even a 3k car however this isn't the issue?, should be done as was blending wing mirror and right hand side body , why go to non dealer? Why should he ?

You have missed so many nudges towards understanding the countries perspectives

1 this quote is a p1s5 take

2 Many people are worse off than before, yet she still fessed cctv or not

3 Somebody thought a hire car was included in the price thats how bad a p1s5 take that price is

if I was her I would phone the insurance and get it written off for your cheek

Why she asked for the car to go to main dealers? , if the shoe was on other foot I doubt you would be taking the same attitude , my cheek ? She owned up and we where grateful she thought the quote was ok, she said not to take it to a ****ty back street garage to fek it up, work will be to the best quality and warranty on work done, door internals where also damaged which have to be replaced

Why she should have made sure she friggin held the door properly rather than just pushing door open , not even a 3k car however this isn't the issue?, should be done as was blending wing mirror and right hand side body , why go to non dealer? Why should he ?

Do me a favour, it was a mistake. That dent isn't the usual careless car park dent, it's been ripped open with some force. I hope you hold your door extra tight everytime you open it just incase its caught by a freak gust of wind.

She's done the decent thing and offered to pay to have it put right, how about cutting her a little slack and at least make the effort to reduce the cost.

No one is suggesting you accept a lower quality repair, just one that's not blatently over inflated.

This is an absolute joke! You or your son coulda done the decent thing and said no to the dealer doing the work. My mate could have repaired that door, repainted the door and blending it into front & rear arch for about £400 & I bet it woulda been a far better job.

Exactly this ^

this isnt the US and whist you think the main dealer work is better I bet you £2 the dealers ships it off somewhere else for paint

But the fact you never said "bloody hell love" thats more than the cars worth speaks volumes, enjoy your shiny mirror cap, it sounds like she has a money no object approach.

This country is currently stifled with young people paying 2k plus for a 1 litre run about because of risk

If your not part of the solution YOU are part of the problem

I never said she wasn't doing the right thing, as for cutting her some slack, she wanted the dealer to do it because they've done work for her before and was happy nowt to do with us. My mate could have done it he's a vw tech / sprayer but she required / wanted seat to do it , yes it's windy as I said but I generally hold on when opening the door when its windy

. ? 2k car yes with 21/2 k insurance cover, which has been his pride and joy it was an accident we know but not his, if the same happened and he was to blame he would have to cough up, she didn't want to go through insurance claim otherwise it would have been 3 different prices but from damage the outcome would be similar price
