it's a bit quiet in here?

Featured Replies

has anybody else noticed that this section of the forum has gone off the boil a bit lately? it just seems to be the same repititions of the same of boring questions, and some of the old regulars have not shown thier erm... avatars.. for a while

Well, they're not frequenting the car parts for sale section - no takers for my Felicia size tyres :(

It's a shame it's not busier as I like the look of the older Skodas, and appreciate seeing the pictures on here just as much as in my native Yeti forum :sun:

Probably just less and less of the older Skoda models around.

I can't seem to spy your Felly sized tyres for sale?

Hate to disappoint you but standard Felicia tyres are 165/70/13 not 14's as you have. That might explain the lack of interest.

To be quite honest, I did notice it of late, but just didn't really want to mention it.

Is this going the way of the Estelle/130 forums e.t.c?

No posts for aaaages.

Maybe it's the case that practically every possible question to be asked on the Felly has already been asked, but certainly the same questions do crop up, aye.

Another thing is, there just aren't enough mavericks like yourself Tom who are willing to instill interest in the community with wild, surreal projects and there are few lads with decent technical and in-depth knowledge, my self included - I know somewhere in-between a little bit and nothing at all about engines and gearboxes.

No idea, but I wonder if the 6N2 has a forum community much more active than the Felly? A more popular car in the UK, but nonethless just as old and in my opinion, a worse car than the felly because it just doesnt have the charm!

I reckon if I could speak Czech I'd be sorted cause theres just tonnes of felly stuff to read on in Czech.

As for the Favorit, I'd suggest that if a lone Favorit section exhisted, it might yield one or two topic posts every month.

Shame, but perhaps a short-term trend rather than a long one...

I keep coming back here to see how that 1.8T transplant thread is going! Any news?

It was a couple of months ago... Frankly I'd be happy for someone to take them off my hands (well, my shed's floor) for carriage costs - it seems a waste to scrap them.

Good value for someone but wrong size for me

i'm not the only person in this comunity, there's nothing stopping anybody from breaking out the spanners, or the rattle cans, or the polishing cloths and writing up journals and mini projects..

maybe we should have something on here like a photo competition game for classic owners to post up random pics of the car in random places, i loved that thread about the 2 felicia's side by side outside sainsburys the other day.

i've noticed jim's not here as much nowadays, darren seems to have given up with it too which is a real shame... 2 of the most knowldegable and experienced geezers on here

Not a problem. (I've no experience of them other than nearly buying a mint part-ex one at the dealers when looking at the Octavia). I was going by sites & posts which mentioned the optional 14" wheels with that tyre size, like these: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/179178-felicia-tyre-sizes/#entry2156895 & http://www.skoda-felicia.net/felicia/technik/felgen_skoda_felicia.php?sprachwahl=en

I'm taking mine to Scotland next month. I'll shall take plenty of pics up there and share some when I get back.

For the record, I should clarify, I was inferring that I don't have much technical knowledge :giggle:

I'm still around...ish, I mostly just browse now since certain members ruined my experience here ;)

Always good to see people are keeping their classics alive

Lee.

For sure mate, but hang in there we need as many classic owners/appreciators as poss! ;)

There's always going to be some repetition of the same or similar questions and debates on these forums, after three years I rarely look at the Octavia II section anymore for just that reason.

However (perhaps uniquely) I think I can say my enthusiasm for Felicia ownership was largely fuelled by the info and projects on here.

Thanks for that Lee, I had surmised as much for myself, so this was kind of a rhetoric thread really.

- I suppose from a personal view-point I've always found this particular forum to be extremely helpful, with just about every aspect of Felicia ownership covered. - Information is freely given in an entertaining and easy-to-understand manner by friendly people who genuinely care about keeping these cars on the road and in the best possible shape.

.....however....

I've also noticed a certain 'nastiness' and sneering attitude by one or two posters here, particularly aimed at 'newbies' who quite obviously don't know their way around the website, are overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information, or who simply don't have time to search through 100's of postings that may or may not pertain to their particular query.

Having said that, I still visit regularly and contribute when I can, as I think it's an extremely valuable resource, and has gotten me out of trouble on more than one occasion!

There's certainly seems a bit more edge around here than there used to be.

I used to come in here for a nice peaceful time after some bruising "Off Topic Chat", or another run in with that geezer who said an Octavia VRS TSi could do 50mpg at motorway speeds.

Generally though still very helpful.....as I found after I recently took my back brakes apart and had no picture of them to help put them back together.....(still getting the oily marks off my netbook)

Oh dear, oh dear. Maybe a good thing then that I haven't logged in frequently the last few months. As juan27 says, the Fav/Felly section have been a safe, friendly and comfy haven after visits in the OffTopic section (my visits there have also become less frequent. There are many kinds of British humour and the one that dominates right now is one I haven't managed to grasp - yet.)

One reason for infrequent visits is that I am a boring driver with a boring bog standard Felly that - pleasantly boring - just toddles on at the mo. Another is that favguy's impressive conversion project is completed. I do take a look at Tom's likewise impressive projects now and then. It's lovely to see good craftsmanship - I won't ever be able to copy it, but i can appreciate it when I see it.

I do hope the old Fav/Felly spirit will survive.
