L.a.n Cold Air Intake

Featured Replies

I didn't want a loud induction kit so I got one of the Dynatwist ones. I know that sounds a bit wierd as I have a rather "fruity" exhaust, but I have a bung for that so I can make it quieter. If I had a loud induction kit I'd be stuffed if a track decided it was too loud.

Hi Jon,

how are you finding the Dynatwist? Performance wise I'm happy with it although I'm not adverse to having a bit more.;)

Also happy with the sound it makes and the level. Would have happily got a ABD CAI but having been in Dave's I know it would have been too loud.

Cheers.

Adrian.

Adrian,

I'm happy with mine, although whilst hooking the pipe under the horn so that it is right behind the grill I've torn it slightly. Just working out how to add some Samco at the end to give it ridgidity when I remove that grill

Now what you want Jon is a nice WRC front bumper..... Come on Erik what's the latest? :D

...and a WRC bonnet to vent out the turbo heat.:D

Look's like the ABD kit for me,but will have to wait - got too much happening at the moment.Number one priority is making the car safe at night, can't get it in my garage,so looking to replace garage -- the car is starting to attract too much attention -- already had valve caps nicked - TWICE -- went outside this morning to find total stranger looking around car -- told him where to get off, might have been inocent - not taking the chance -- have just got cctv camera to keep an eye on it.......where does it end ?

Dave,

Best advice is to get the garage sorted pronto - out of sight out of mind.

After a couple of weeks with mine I can say the ABD seems to be a good piece of kit. The design with the K&N filter closest to the outside air has got to be the best for performance. Sound increases with throttle opening. Just cruising its lttle different from std.

I would order one from IP if I were you as they are diffcult to get and IP are out of stock I believe.

For those with the ABD LAN kit - how's your car running after a while now? I fancy this kit - but how do you get the filter fitted underneath the battery - from under the car?

Runs great! Even in the pouring rain - which was initially a worry for me. Never can get enough of that Darth Vader sound :D

Yes you will need to jack the car up and remove the tray from underneath to push the filter up. You will also need someone else to guide it and tighten it up from above.

Recommend it for sharper response and Jabba commented it does add something to the re-map results so it must allow the engine to breath better.

Makes a lovely sound when pushing along, especially when running silly boost. :D

Enough to drown the noise of a complaining gearbox, by any chance? rolleyes.gif

Well I think it will drown out your complaining gearbox Denis. Though I doubt your engine has the capability the make anything complain. ;)

Can someone post a link for the website that sells this induction kit?

Des, anybody, how is the ABD FMIC doing?

why o why did I get a 4x4...the forgotten model of tuners, guess I'll have to go bold and try some S3 bits.

Colin,

The FM is still going strong. Did manage to get the intake temps to 28c on the VAG-COM. Couple this with the LAN kit intake temps makes for a big jump in timing advance.

You can have a play next time we meet.

Des

thanks for the link

Sorry to drag this link back again, but I thought my car deserved a pressie for Christmas so decided to treat it to a LAN kit from ABD.

I ordered it on 21st Dec and it arrived on 24th - not bad for Xmas post! :thumb: I have to say Michael at ABD was really helpful.

I fitted it on Monday (29th?) and managed to do it on my own - can see how it would be easier with 2 people though (much swearing whilst trying to get the K&N on the end of the LAN pipe.) :cussing:

I think it would have been easier if the LAN pipe was longer, as there's not a lot of clearance around the headlight/wiring/battery to get the filter on. Also, to tighten up the jubilee clip I had to remove the front indicator to get at it with my trusty screwdriver.

To those contemplating fitting the kit, if you haven't got any Torx screwdrivers you're best off investing in a set before you start - to remove the inner wheel arch (makes job much easier.) Homebase have got a set with a ratchet screwdriver and interchangeable bits on sale at the mo (

Finally, as previously said - great addictive sound, more instantaneous throttle response and looks shiny too, it's the best
