Wing mirror courtsey Light

Featured Replies

I have a Octavia Elegance which has a courtsey light fitted under each of the mirrors. I recently had a idiot hit the drivers mirror and as a result i think the bulb has failed. How do i go about replacing this as only way possible seems to to first remove the wing mirror glass. If this is the case how do i manage it without smashing the mirror at a cost of £35 to replace.

Mike will give it a go over the weekend

Thanks Mark

Hello mate,

I've recently replaced both my wing mirrors ( just the glass) as the heating elements had failed on them. Do exactly as Mike says, however, I gently pushed two of the visible lugs which hold the mirrors with a screwdriver. This enables the glass to free itself without any force. All that's left is to remove the two wires for the heating element.

Again, follow Mikes instructions for replacing the glass. It's no problem whatsoever.

By the way, I got replacement heated mirrors off eBay for £11.99 each. Great quality and they work too ;-)

Hope this helps.

Best wishes

FP.

you don't need to remove the glass.

Just pop the mirror cover off you need some sort of pry tool I used a knife go to back of cover in about the middle of cover at the bottom try get prytool in without damaging paint gently prise apart too see retaining clip in middle of cover release this clip once released top cover should pull apart watch not to catch in mirror

I think I'd rather chance a £12 mirror glass rather than a colour coded mirror cap!
