Yes - for my Rapid.

You would need to ask gizmo68 - he was the wizard, I the beer supplier!

Feels so much better!

£70? saving on VED over three years of having the car ^^^ Are you having me on? 3 years? You change your car more often than I change my pants - but that's a different subject

Good to meet you last night.

Spoiler looked good, even in black.

Will get my Vag-com out and drop gizmo a PM when it arrives! :D

How much difference did the steering tweak make?

Was good to meet you yesterday mate, your car looked good :)

Ditto ^^

Nice to meet the man behind the crazy ideas :)

Steering made a big difference - used to be vague and light now its heavy and sporty with good feel.

Added to the list. :D

Unfortunately staging and one touch windows can't be changed! :(

Bugger :-(

That's the only thing I was really bothered about getting done lol

How loud are the locking/unlocking beeps? Interesting but I wouldn't want it if it's gonna annoy the neighbours who's houses are right in front of my street's parking bays.

Also looking to get the stupid stereo beep when Bluetooth connected turned off too.

Assuming there'll be a few vcds systems at Gaydon :-)

Nice to finally meet up with you Adam and get the car hooked up to VCDS.

This is for the Rapid? If yes, can u pls let us know how to do it

(From memory)

Go to 44 - Steering Assist and change the last but one digit from a 5 to a 2, the descriptions are along the lines of:

2 = Sports setting

5 = Light car

(The OE coding was 11250, this was changed to 11220.)

Great to see something worked  :giggle:

Any luck with the CC display?

They are quite discreet on the newer Skoda’s (unlike most newer Audi’s which are IMO too loud)

I will be taking VCDS along to Gaydon…. I do NOT intend spending ALL day coding though! :giggle:

Thx for the info about the steering wheel Gismo68.

Imho, this mod should have its own thread for future reference.

Can i get it done at the dealership? I dont have a vcds (didnt know about it till now) :)

 Nice to meet and chat about the vcds - quite involving!

Gizmo is a genius!

As for CC sign on maxi dot - not tried it yet - last nights trip home was chase the vRS

AdLav; did people like the Rapid in "real life" or did you get bullied?!

Everyone seemed to like it :)

No negative comments, not even about the dash lol

I've said it before and I'll say it again.

The Rapid interior is fine.

It's practical, modern and functional in my opinion.

Yes there are a few harder surfaces in there, in places that you don't actually touch when driving.

But let's remember this isn't a car with a price tag approaching £17k-£20k for many of the models like an Octavia 3.

It's in the class below and is a noticable improvement over the Fabia which is currently a similar price.

Just out of interest (as we have a Fab) I went to the configurator and specced a Fabia SE 1.2TSi DSG and a Rapid SE 1.4TSi DSG.  The Fabia was £14K and the Rapid £17.6K!

And a Fabia SE 1.2 TSi 86PS 5speed manual is £12,150 vs. a Rapid SE with the same engine/gearbox combo coming out at £14,650 - given the quite substantial difference in size of the cars I'd say that's not really all that bad a price difference.

It'll be interesting to see how the next generation Fabia will be priced.

Yes, but as the cars are almost the same weight you are speccing the Rapid with a bigger engine and more performance.

When you consider the Fabia is (other than a facelift) as released six years ago on a chassis fourteen years old I personally think the fact that the slightly larger Rapid is only typically £1.5-2k more expensive is fair considering making a Fabia an estate costs around £600 ish.

I don't have anything against the Fabia, it's a good little car and I actulaly have a well specced Scout 1.2tsi (86 - 5 speed) on order.

Which was under £1500 less than my well specced Rapid Elegance 1.2tsi (105 - 6 speed) with the same engine.

Baring in mind any discounts are % based and after a good haggle the cars are not that far apart. :)

Of course, the Fabia is technically from the class below, but I don't feel the pricing is that different considering one is a new model and one is about to reach the end of it's life.  As said above, it'll be interesting to see the pricing on the Fabia mk3.

Rapid is basically a cheaper VW Jetta :)

All fair points.  I was just musing and looking at what I would order since I would insist on DSG and can't do a complete like for like comparison.  Originally, a lot of people were complaining that the Rapid was overpriced?  The really interesting comparison will be when the new Fab comes out.

Yes it's a shame the 1.2 doesn't come with the DSG in the Rapid, it's a cracking combination.

105bhp with 7 speeds works really well in light cars.

Lol don't worry - I wouldn't dream of pestering someone to hook their laptop up to my car unless they're freely asking if anyone wants anything doing! :)

No doubt I will end up doing one or two cars.... But swmbo would kill me if I spent half of the day doing loads of cars.

You could be a rich man if you charged dealer prices for the day...

Still not checked my cc symbol, damn it!

CC symbol? What's that all about? You can get the maxidot to tell you when you've spent too much on drugs & hookers? :)

Cruise control speed now pops up next to symbol :)
