Ordered a Rapid Elegance :)

Featured Replies

Problem with Octavia or Scirocco wheels is they'll be 5 x 112 whereas the Rapid is 5 x 100 :(

£70? saving on VED over three years of having the car ^^^ Are you having me on? 3 years? You change your car more often than I change my pants - but that's a different subject

Are you going to lower it a bit?

Bossfox - looking at eibach springs through Skoda to keep warranty.

J400uk - found replica scirocco alloys in 5x100 or I can use adaptors and genuine wheels.

Various options looking good.

Genuine Interlagos wheels are ET41 so I would expect adapters to push them out quite wide.

The R32 and Scirocco wheels look fantastic - not keen on the Neptunes (only my opinion though).

Good work Leon

Hmmm... if they are dealer fit I may have to have a chat with a certain sponsor on here...

Any idea of the drop if you have looked into them?

BTW, Leon is the Yoda of photoshoppers. :)

Great skills.

15-25mm waiting got a price and exact measurements.

Do you mind me asking how much it's setting you back?

It'll be interesting to hear how it changes the handling (especially on bumpier roads).

Just heard an its 30mm front 30mm rear lowering.

Costing £190 for springs and negotiating fitting, looking at £350 ish all in.

That's not too bad. That's through a Skoda Dealership or have I mis-read your earlier post?

It will be through my dealer - I can do it cheaper but wouldn't be covered under warranty.

Call back from Skoda uk - no Rapid springs available or covered under warranty at this time.

Pointed out the ones on the eibach website but could be that these lower more than what would be covered.

I imagine a 15-20mm drop apring would be covered, not the 30-30mm that is currently offered. Any springs fitted would void warranty on suspension related parts...

That's a pig mate. Fingers crossed a solution will come up soon

Indeed - Buggar.

Debating fitting them anyway :)

"at this time". Hmm. Don't you just love weasel words?

Presumably at some stage there will be an eco or sport version which will come with lowered suspension. Usually in the 15-20mm range.

This will then give them the oppertunity to approve a drop of that height...

You can already get a Green tec version, is that not dropped in comparison to the standard? Or does that simply add stop/start?

Just stop/start and brake regen. (which I think is a fancy term for not using the alternator when giving it the beans, as it doesn't have a seperate recharging system)

Going by the facts and figures, it seems as though if you've paid full price for greentech, you'll probably never get your money back with the 1.2TSI. Some £1,050 extra, same tax band and very marginal (~3MPG) improvement in fuel economy. It will take ages to 'pay for itself'.

119g/km CO2 (UK Tax Band C)

The 105 non-greentech actually emits 125g/ km CO2 so sits in Band D.

Yep, my 105 (non greentec) is band D. I did consider looking around for an 86PS on a similar deal, but decided I'd rather have the little bit of extra 'loud' available should I ever want it :)

Even so, at a current difference of £75/year between the bands, that's a long long time to claw it back.

This is what made me unsure what to do, but I figured the £70? saving on VED over three years of having the car, plus a small fuel saving as it'll be mostly a distance vehicle wouldn't pay.

Plus stop/start cars often have a heavier duty battery and starter motor = more weight.
