Running Boards etc

Featured Replies

Hi I ordered a Black Yeti Greenline today and want to jazz it up a bit so all suggestions welcome can anyone recommend any running boards?

How about the Skoda dealer fit running boards? Seen a few with them fitted, circa £550 fitted IIRC

Thanks hadn't realised Skoda did them TBH

Just remember that:

they reduce your ground clearance slightly,

they do nothing to protect the side of the car as they do not stick out enough

they collect dirt in large quantities

every time you get in or out the back of your trousers will clean them for you

you can't stand on them as they aren't strong enough

A couple of past members fitted them and then took them off quite quickly.

If you want "bling" try looking on the SuperSkoda web site; there are plenty of more practical/useful items there.

Thanks Llanigraham I'll give SuperSkoda a go

I had Skoda sidesteps fitted to my black Urban from new, cost £360 fitted by dealer.

1. My wife had mobility problems, she did use them to get in, @ 5'2" & 8 stone

2. I use them & the roof rails to reach the middle of the roof when washing it, I'm 6' & a lot heavier!

3. The car wash guys do the same when I can't be bothered - they always ask first

4. Being anodised aluminiuum, the're not as bling as chrome ones

5. The car, being black, needs something like this to lighten it up, I've had quite a few positive comments

6 They do collect dirt, but a quick brush & hosepipe sorts it. Make sure you fit mudflaps as well

All in all it was a good usefull buy

There are (2) good photos in the Skoda Yeti Accessories PDF brochure on line (Sport & Design section, pages 3 & 4)

I've only just figured out how to post comments, adding my pics is a mystery to me!!

You will soil your trousers on these things mark my words! As an example see the marks on this Yeti:

Imagine running boards being even further out...

My concerns would be catching them on things, damaging them and what they are attached to.

They stick out more than the wheels don't they?

I used to have them on a Range Rover but never used them as they were not big enough for size 11 feet and I didn't need them.

They did do a good job of giving me dirty trousers though.

Many thanks guys. Seems to me the Silver protectors on the under door valance are the safest option

That would be my option as well. Are the silver protectors easy to put on?

They are but ask Yetiman how many times his (dealer fitted) silver valance strips have come loose....

Yes Johann you are correct, it will only be a matter of time before someone on the passnger side (perhaps a little portly) steps on one, damages it or even worse falls from it and onto the road and suing you for damage

I've used SuperSkoda myself & they were fantastic, very good prices IMHO and delivery was within just a few days; ordered Thurs, arrived the following Tues.

I`ve got running boards fitted that i got from superskoda and would also agree they were a good company to deal with. The boards don`t stick out too much and no dirty troosers yet

Thanks guys. Always good to have some feedback before buying online I'm sure I'll give them a go.

Mine was an ex demo with these Cobra Stainless steps already fitted by the supplying dealer.

And no, I don't get dirty trousers, neither do they reduce the ground clearance by much.

This picture gives you an idea as to what they look like.

Does it matter if they're 3rd party? Are the oem ones lighter? The oem sidesteps seem to be £100 more

I think they look cool but don't any hassle or too much extra weight added to the car

They probably provide some protection for the paint on the rear doors.
